User:Hi doctor ,I have a developed a boil underneath my Backside ...Having trouble in Sitting as it pains also feeling feverish.Which medicine would help?
Doctor:Since when do you have this boil?
User:since 2 days now
Doctor:And can you specify the location of the boil?
User:close to the anal area
Doctor:How big is the boil?
Doctor:Is there any discharge from the location?
User:itz visible ..
Doctor:Let me explain.
Doctor:The 2 most common reasons for this boil is a pilonidal cyst or folliculitis.
Doctor:Both these condition can be partially treated conservatively with
Doctor:warm seitz bath (sitting in a tub with warm water)
Doctor:with topical antibiotic cream such as Clindamycin cream/ointment.
Doctor:If you have difficulty in passing stools along with this problem, you can apply lidocaine gel around the anal region before passing stool.
Doctor:I said partially because, some times despite all conservative methods
Doctor:the symptoms can remain unresolved.
User:i have tried to take antibiotic called sporidex
User:since last night
Doctor:In such cases you would need incision and drainage (minor surgical procedure) to treat the problem.
Doctor:Oral tablet or topical creams?
User:oral tablet
Doctor:You may continue that for 3-5 days along with the seitz bath and topical cream.
User:passing stoll is not a Problem
Doctor:Seitz bath should give the maximum benefit.
User:how do i prevent this in future?
User:& wat is the cause for this
Doctor:The condition is 40 - 50% recurring.
Doctor:The cause of recurrence is anatomical variation and presence of hair.
Doctor:If you have plenty of hair around the anal region, please use some depilation cream and remove them.
Doctor:keep the area clean and dry at most times.
Doctor:Avoid siting for prolonged time.
Doctor:These are the only tips i suggest for preventing recurrence.
Doctor:Have you followed?
User:thanks a lot
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:is this called Piles by any chance?
Doctor:Piles is a different entity.
Doctor:In all probabilities what you have is a
Doctor:pilonidal cyst
Doctor:Or a folliculitis.
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:No ..Thanks a lot dcotor
