User :   hello doctor, I have a few questions about my health to ask you. thanks
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   I was born with only one testicle descended. My other testicle was nowhere to be found. they did a surgery and also an ultrasound and no testicle was found.
User :   i also have mild hypothyroidism (for background information)
Doctor :   Ok
User :   my question is, is my one testicle causing this low testosterone level?
User :   or is this a pituitary problem?
User :   also, is this related to my hypothyroidism and mild asthma?
Doctor :   Low testosterone levels could be occur either due to absent testis or due to central causes secondary to hypopituitarism.
Doctor :   Asthma has no role major role with low testosterone levels but.
Doctor :   The chances of single testis as the cause of low testosterone is more likely than hypopituitarism.
User :   what is the cure for this doctor? i am taking testosterone injections as prescribed by my endo, however, my test results came back to 292ng.
Doctor :   This could be confirmed by the endocrine tests.
User :   i do not want to be on injections for the rest of my life. can HCG injections increase my testicular function?
Doctor :   The treatment depdnds on the cause.
Doctor :   Taking into consideration the cause is single testis, it is most likely that you may need treatment for a long time.
User :   since my other testicle could not be found, does this mean i'm still at risk for testicular cancer?
User :   also, will this have an effect on my fertility?
Doctor :   Ectopic testis / absent testis are associated with some risk of testicular cancer. However the risks are insignificant when compared to other risk factors such as smoking, presence of family history of testicular cancers and so on.
Doctor :   Low testosterone levels may have a role on potency and fertility.
Doctor :   However it is not a rule that
Doctor :   every individual who suffer from low testosterone levels should have these problems.
Doctor :   I wish you do not suffer from problems of potency or infertility.
Doctor :   However if they are present, testosterone supplement should take care of it.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   i have
User :   i do have my testosterone injections
User :   however doctor, i am only 17 years old
User :   will testosterone injections cause atrophy of my testicle?
Doctor :   The chances of atrophy can happen due to over activity.
Doctor :   However at therapeutic doses, the chances of atrophy is considered insignificant.
Doctor :   I would not be concerned of atrophy at the age of 17 year or during the reproductory age group.
User :   i also have gynecomastia doctor. are all of these symptoms related? i have had gynecomastia since i was 12 years old. low testosterone, one testicle, hypothyroidism and gynecomastia? do these seem to be a big problem?
User :   ok thank you doctor
Doctor :   Low testosterone levels can cause shift in the hormone balance which can induce changes of gynecomastia.
Doctor :   I would not relate hypothyroidism as the cause of gynecomastia.
Doctor :   The hormonal changes can be rectified with testosterone supplements.
Doctor :   With regular exercises, dietary changes, you will be able to address this issue too.
User :   is it possible to live a normal life with these levels of testosterone? at one point, my levels rose to 350ng which is about 70-100 ng above the lowest normal.
User :   can i live a normal life without taking injections? will this have an adverse affect on my health?
Doctor :   You seem to concerned and worried.
User :   i have been very concerned lately doctor, sorry.
Doctor :   I would be more worried to treat the depressive symptoms rather than low testosterone levels itself.
Doctor :   psychological conditions and depression are larger risks to sexual problems than testosterone itself.
User :   oh okay doctor, i believe i have ocd or something.
User :   i am a hypochondriac due to the fact that all of my family is in the healthcare profession.
Doctor :   I would advice you proper treatment for psychological problems along with testosterone supplements to have a successful and normal life.
User :   okay doctor thank you
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no i do not. i believe you have answered all my queries.
User :   thank you for your time doctor
User :   have a nice day
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
