User :   I am 47 (almost 48) and currently suffering with what appears to be vaginitis (self-diagnosed). I had this about 2 months ago, so bad that I went to the emergency room. At that time, I believe I accidentally went to close the vaginal area when applying a scented body lotion. It was not yeast. They said it was a dermatitis. I have the same thing now, and the pain is excruciating. Symptoms include redness, itching, pain, swelling. On top of it, I have my period. What is the best treatment? The first time I tried Monostat, Vagisil, then was told by the ED MD to try Aquaphor. I put ice packs and cold water papertowels to help relieve the pain, but nothing helps the itching! What works the best?
