User :   Hello Doctor...It is 37 days since my last period but I got a neg UPT YEST
I feel soemtimes I am going to get a period but nothing comes. sometimes I get cramps but no blood. I had a heartburning sensation this mornin and got panicked and was feeling irritated...Is it a delayed period or i am pregnant/ my cycle usually is very regular and 28th day i always get my period please advice
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr.XXX here
User :   hello doctor
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed
User :   sure
Doctor :   do you have any other symtoms?
User :   Till today, no synptoms, but today i have some cramping and feeling heart burn
User :   some fullness in my foodpipe
User :   occasional headaches
User :   thats it
Doctor :   UPT can show false negative test results. if you are suspecting to be pregnant, then I would recommend you to go ahead with examination by a gynecologist
Doctor :   along with a blood HCG level test to confirm/rule out pregnancy
User :   ok
Doctor :   blood HCG levels are accurate and confirmatory tests
User :   other than pregnancy is there any other reason for such a major delay in periods....i am usually very regular
Doctor :   if these show negative results then other underlying causes should be looked for
Doctor :   which include hormonal disturbances, and anatomical or structural problems.
User :   ok
User :   i have everything checked up, laparoscopy etc...everything is normal
User :   hormone levels are fine too
Doctor :   when were these done?
User :   I underwent ICSI procedure last to last month, as a prerequisite to that these procedures were done
Doctor :   was a blood HCG level test done?
Doctor :   if your periods are delayed for 37 days, then it suggests possibility
User :   ICSI was successful, HCG lelels went up to 400 something and then I miscarried
Doctor :   after you missed your periods, were any tests done apart from UPT?
User :   no
User :   this t8ime? No
Doctor :   if the miscarriage was due to low HCG, then external HCG supplementation might work in preventing miscarriage
User :   i did upt myself
Doctor :   ok, then I would suggest you to go ahead with the blood HCG level test
User :   no as per the number of days, HCG levels were good and doubling evry two days
Doctor :   repeat this test after 3 days to see if levels are rising
Doctor :   if levels are not rising as expected, then go ahead with ultrasound scan
User :   you mean the UPT?
Doctor :   and discuss with your treating gynecologist about the external supplementation of HCG.
User :   I should get the blood test done right?
Doctor :   no not UPT, i mean to say for blood HCG levels
User :   ok doctor
User :   will do
User :   but is there a possibility of pregnancy? I am not taking any extra precautions, I goto work and do everything
User :   Should i take rest or something
User :   yesterday when i was cramping a bit, i had a tiny bit of brownish disharge, very less
Doctor :   you should be resting if you have had previous miscarriage
Doctor :   and are trying for baby again
User :   ok
Doctor :   if brown discharge and cramps are present. it coul dsignal another miscarriage
Doctor :   plesae do not ignore your symptoms
Doctor :   go ahead with immediate check-up and
Doctor :   ultrasound to see if bleeding is seen inside uterus
Doctor :   and to get started on treatment to prevent miscarriage
User :   ok doctor, will immediately do that
User :   thank you very much
Doctor :   is there anything else I can help you with?
