Doctor :   hi
Doctor :
how can i help you?
User :   Hello, I wanted information for my 10 year old daughter. She said she has had vision problems lately
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
please describe her symptoms in detail.
User :   she wears glasses but said that 3 times now her vision went black and is seeing white dots
Doctor :   ok

User :   This happened once today, yesterday and once previously before that
Doctor :
where is she seeing the white dots?
Doctor :
when was her last ophthalmology check up?
User :   she says the white dots are different shapes
Doctor :
ok
User :   3 months ago for the optometrist
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
please provide her height and weight.
User :   she says she cant see anything but just white dots with black background and lasts for a second
User :   70 lbs and about 4.5 ft
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
do these dots blink? or are they seen continuosly?
User :   they are continuous no blinking
Doctor :
ok
User :   she does get headaches too maybe once a week but I did tell her dr about that a few months ago and she did not think it was anything to worry about
Doctor :
she will need to be examined by an ophthalmologist and not optometrist to see the inside of her eye to dectect retinal and or choroidal changes
Doctor :
since she is having headaches also along with these symptoms,
Doctor :
a retinal or choroidal pathogy could be involved
Doctor :
which will need further investigations and imaging
Doctor :
to be able to detect the exact cause and treat it
Doctor :
these symptoms are known to occur in young patients with retinal and chroidal pathology
Doctor :
and symptoms of fever, myalgia, headache, and malaise are noted while having them or before having them
Doctor :
so a fundoscopy and a retinoscopy helps to visualise the inside of the eye
User :   She has not had any headaches in the last few days either.
Doctor :
and this can be done by a phthalmologist
Doctor :
ok
User :   So an appointment with an opthomologist instead of her regular dr?
Doctor :
yes, an appointment with the opthalmologist instead of her regular doctor and optometrist would be better
User :   is retinal and chroidal pathology anything serious
Doctor :
and she should be examined soon
Doctor :   yes they can turn serious if associated with retinal detachment and epithelial changes
Doctor :
which can result in visual loss
Doctor :
and may require surgeries to fix them
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   yes that puts me at ease too I was thinking brain tumors
Doctor :
no, brain tumors will generally not have the white dots appearing, they present with mostly intense headaches
Doctor :
and if involving the optic region in brain
Doctor :
then present with visual loss at peak of headache
Doctor :
is there anything else i can help you with?
User :   no thank you very much
Doctor :
