User :   hello ive got a transvaginal ultrasound check about two weeks ago (for some other purposes) but after the ultrasound check the fact that i might forget to remove my tempon which lastly was inserted three weeks ago (which means a week before the actual ultrasound check was conducted) was click to me. Is it possible to have a tampon still stuck in me even after the transvaginal ultrasound didnt find any sign of seeing it?
Doctor :   hi
User :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here. let me read what you have typed.
Doctor :   was the tampon really left behind?
Doctor :   when was it removed?
User :   was partying too hard.. honestly ive got no memory of taking it out
Doctor :   for what purpose was the transvaginal ultrasound conducted?
User :   due to the period-related issues.. (heavy bleeding)
Doctor :   what symptoms did you have when the ultrasound was asked for?
Doctor :   what symptoms do you have at present?
Doctor :   the tampon left behind for so long can trigger infection, leading to irritation, burning, itching and foul discharge from vagina
User :   after the ultrasound check was conducted, thankfully my bleeding stopped but
Doctor :   the ultrasound scan should have picked it up if it was present inside
User :   after two weeks from the check which is present
User :   bleeding started all over again
User :   but this time is not heavy like the previous experience
Doctor :   ok
User :   so what you are saying is that the tampon i left in me for a long time may trigger such symptoms?
Doctor :   it can trigger infection. do you have any other symptom associated apart from the bleeding?
User :   because i remember last month i used tampons more (more days and longer time) then i used to
User :   bleeding is my prior concern at this point
User :   but surely irritation and itching are also part ofit
Doctor :   ok. it will help me to answer you better if you describe all your symptoms together.
Doctor :   ok
User :   plus the color of blood is not quite as red as it should be .
User :   its more like..
Doctor :   is the bleeding happening after intercourse or any sexual activity? or is it happening at the usuall period due date?
User :   darkish brown
User :   after intercourse
Doctor :   ok. when was your last (normal) periods?
User :   normal period was about three weeks ago
Doctor :   what did the ultrasound report suggest?
Doctor :   are you on any birth control measures?
User :   the reason i took the ultrasound was because i started bleeding after a 5-day-long period
User :   then the result says nothing seems wrong
Doctor :   the irritation, itching and the alerted blood after intercourse suggest pelvic infection.
User :   then how can i get a checkup for pelvic infection?
Doctor :   it is called as PID (pelvic inflammatory disease)
User :   and what are the symtoms for PID?
Doctor :   ask your gynecologist for a 'per speculum' examination. along with a vaginal or cervical swab test to identify the infection
Doctor :   the examination will also tell if there are any cervical issues related to bleeding with the intercourse
Doctor :   the symptoms of PID include irritation, burning itching, vaginal or cervical discharge, bleeding and pain with intercourse, chronic back and pelvic pain, infertility.
User :   alright. Thanks. but do you think bleeding in dark brown color can be another sign of PID?
User :   (more close to dark color)
Doctor :   yes it could be one of the signs. altered bleeding is one of the signs suggesting PID.
User :   oh. before times up you sure that if there were a tampon inside me the ultrasound might have picked it up right?
Doctor :   it can be accompanied with pain and cramps too.
Doctor :   yes it should have picked it up
User :   alright. Thanks doc
Doctor :   unless it was out by itself already.
User :   thank you really.
Doctor :   is there anything else I can help you with?
