User :   My son (3 years 10 months) had viral fever from last 2-3 days, the doctor had put him on antibiotic, Azithral and today morning he started loose motions and has pain in the motion area. The doctor has told me to give gramogyl suspension. He has already passed 3 stools since morning, watery .. Please advice . I have not yet started on gramogyl.

Doctor :   the loose stool could be due to the previous antibiotic use. is there fever still associated? is there bad smell in stools?
Doctor :   is there blood or mucus associated in stools?
User :   We are checking his temperature, I dont think he has temperature
User :   there is no blood, no mucus in stools, but a slight odour is there in stools
Doctor :   ok. is the color same as usual stool color or is there any change in color of stools?
User :   But let me also tell you that the loose motions first started on friday eveening, for which we did not give any medicine only ORS
User :   on Tuesday we went to a doctor and started the antibiotic for viral rhroat infection
User :   the color is stool is normal yellow
User :   no change in colour of stools
Doctor :   ok. you can start him on the Gramogyl as advised by your doctor
Doctor :   it will take care of any infection if present

Doctor :   along with that you also need to give him replacement of the normal gut flora/bacteria that has been affected by the initial antibiotic use

Doctor :   so you can give him Sporolac pediatric sachets mixed with water
Doctor :   give him 3 times a day
User :   we just checked his temperature, its normal, no fever

User :   and any side effects of this gramogoal medicine
Doctor :   give him bland diet and easily digestible stuff
Doctor :   avoid spice, oil and fried stuff

Doctor :   no it usually does not have much side effects, it can however give him vomiting sensation

Doctor :   no it will subside after 1/2 to 1 hour of medication use
Doctor :   and it will completely go away after you stop the medication use.
User :   ok, I can give gramogyl for 3 days, right?
Doctor :   if it gets more or is not getting controlled, then you can give him Domstal syrup 2.5 ml 2 times a day
