User :   my baby is very lathargic right now, temp is 97 to 99, no appetite, sleeping, drinking vitaimin water no milk, mild diarea, what to do
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Dr xxxx here
Doctor :   What is the age of the baby ?
User :   my baby is 22 months old and for the last 24 hrs has been very lathargic, no temp 97 to 99, drinks water, no appetite, mild diarea, what to do
Doctor :   How frequent is she passing stools , are the stools watery ?
User :   she has gone once today, they are runny and not as orange as they have been
Doctor :   ok, do you see mucous and or blood in the stool ?
User :   no
Doctor :   is the baby sweating more ?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Ok, do you hav any rehydration solutions in home ? like ORS
Doctor :   the baby is getting dehydrated , the best way to reduce it would be by giving the ORS solution
User :   no, not sure what ORS is and where to get it, tried pedialyte
Doctor :   you have to replenish the salt and water into the baby , the cause of the lethargy is due to loss of water
Doctor :   you can do that by feeding her juices , tender coconut water, butter milk or home made ORS prepared by mixing a pinch of salt and a fist of sugar in boiled and cooled water
User :   have tried pedialite, is what we have here what about gatorade
Doctor :   you can continue both , if the baby is not feeding on them you can try what i have mentioned above
Doctor :   the main resort is to fill in water more into the child
Doctor :   you have to meet the pediatrician for identifying the cause and put the baby on antibiotics
Doctor :   do not feed any solid food
User :   thank you
Doctor :   Is there anything i can help you with ?
User :   i guess i should take her to emergency? just fixed her the water that you suggested and gave her some ibuprofen for babies. her diapers are wet and she has not eaten since this am. what do you think
Doctor :   i think she has gastroenteritis
Doctor :   and needs antibiotics for the same
Doctor :   but water is very important now
Doctor :   i do not think giving Ibuprofen is a good idea as they induce gastritis
User :   can they find that out with a blood test? should I just take her to emergency
Doctor :   yes , take her to ER stool test might b needed
