User :   HI I have a crunching, creaking kind of sound at the base of my skull when I turn my head side to side. No pain associated with it.

Doctor :   Did you ever injure your neck in past ?
User :   No. just the odd neck from sleeping wrong. my neck feels like I cannot turn it as much as I used to, slightly tighter
Doctor :   Since when do you have this problem ?
User :   I have noticed it for the last 2 weeks
Doctor :   ok, i would advice you to get an xray of cervical spine done
Doctor :   which would give detailed insight into the problem
User :   I work as a dexa scanning tech, would a dexa sho anything?
Doctor :   no , a normal radiograph ( xray ) would suffice
Doctor :   a CT would be much better
User :   bit hard to get gp to send me for a ct
Doctor :   its would be ok if you start with an xray
User :   i have no back pain so do you think it maybe a vertbra problem?
Doctor :   the only bones there in the neck are vertebra , the condition may not be that sever so as to produce pain , but its good to rule it out in early times
User :   completely true, thats what I tell my patients too.
Doctor :   is there anything i could be of help ?
User :   No, many thanks. I will try and convince someone at work for a x-ray
