User :   Hi. I'm 18 years old and have been experiencing some very weird symptoms recently. My period is late by 4 days, I haven't had unprotected sex , as we always use condoms, a couple of months ago I was taken off the contraceptive pill due to a reaction due to suspected Erythema Nodosum condition I have. I have been on holiday with family the past two weeks and the last time I had sex with my boyfriend was 4 weeks ago and it was protected, I have taken 3 pregnancy tests and all came back negative, however i've been experiencing cramping like menstruation cramps but no spotting or bleeding. I did experience some orangey brown discharge but that was it. I am just hoping that I am not pregnant. Help?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   Let me read the query.
User :   ok
Doctor :   May i know if your periods been regular in the past?
User :   Fairly regular, not regimented , but if they change they would come earlier not later.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   You mentioned your last sexual intercourse was 4 weeks ago, was it during the time around your menstrual period?
User :   It was the week afterwards.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness apart in the past apart from the erythema nodosum?
User :   I was severely anaemic for about a year when I was 16, despite many investigations no cause was found.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
User :   ok
Doctor :   According to the history that you have provided me, there are very less chances of pregnancy.
Doctor :   The chances are less than one percent.
User :   ok, thats good
Doctor :   These symptoms, I mean the delay in the periods may have been caused due to stress due to travel andor
Doctor :   your medical illness that includes presence of anaemia now.
User :   ok that would make sense
Doctor :   Usually the menstrual problems due to these factor resolve on its own.
User :   Ok so in theory if I wait a bit it should all sort itself out?
Doctor :   However, if they are persisting and you still do not get your normal periods in another week,
Doctor :   I shall suggest you to repeat the pregnancy test then, that is after a week.
User :   Ok
Doctor :   If they are negative then, then the likely hood of pregnancy is almost nil.
Doctor :   If these problems recurr in your next cycles, you will need evaluation by a gynaecologist to look for other causes of irregular periods.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   Ok , thank you , I'm glad I feel a bit better, if they persist I'll get it checked out
User :   yes i have
Doctor :   Do you have any other query that I can assist you with?
User :   Erm no that was it I think , Thank You!
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
User :   Will do, Bye.
