User :   I've been constipated since last night so I took a Dulcolax. I'm pretty bloated and cramping. Still having a hard time with being able to have a movement. I took it about 4 hours ago so it said that it should start working. I have had a Laparascopic Semi-Sigmoidectomy in 2007 but haven't had a problem with movements. Is this normal?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read
Doctor :   Dulcolax takes 4 to 12 hours to act
Doctor :   it is usually given in the night and the bowel movement is expected in the morning
User :   I have taken laxatives during the day but haven't had this kind of side effect with others. I usually took Miralax and it didn't cause this uncomfortable feeling. Is this common to have cramping and the bloating?
User :   Should this subside on it's own?
Doctor :   usually it does not cause bloating and or cramping, once you have passed the stools it should subside
User :   Does constipation cause cramping at all? I ran this morning and than it started to hurt in my lower abdomen
Doctor :   dulcolax does causes cramping, and indigestion and mild discomfort in some
Doctor :   but usually it will not cause this in many and it will subside with the passage of stools
Doctor :   not to worry much
Doctor :   consume luke warm water
User :   Ok, thanks doctor
Doctor :   always use lot of fibers in the diet to prevent constipation and do not get used to laxatives frequently
Doctor :   thanks for consulting health care magic
Doctor :   bye for now
