User :   I am 6 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I had some light brown spotting in the morning, I then took a plane for 1.5 hours and started to bleed dark red blood. It subsided very quickly and then for the rest of the day I rested and it turned into brown discharge/light pink spotting. I would only see it when I wiped. Today I went to the bathroom and again there was red blood. Again it has gone away and it is now brown blood. I am worried that something is wrong. I am 28 years old, in good health. I have no cramping.
Doctor :   hello
User :   hi
User :   nice to speak with you
User :   i should also mention that i have a bad cold - not sure that affects anything
User :   i can't go to my doctor because i am in nyc
User :   and i live in canada
Doctor :   Many women notice bleeding or spotting throughout their pregnancy, particularly during their first trimester. This is a fairly common occurrence, with about 10% of all women experiencing some type of light bleeding during pregnancy. This bleeding, though, is not the same as getting your period.
User :   so i'm out of the country for the weekend
Doctor :   are you taking any medications ?
User :   no medications
Doctor :   do you have anyother medical condition ?
User :   no
User :   very healthy
User :   i do spot a lot on a regular basis even before i was pregnant
User :   maybe ten days out of a month i would spot in addition to having my period
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   well now since i did mention its common BUT still as a protocol you would have to see a gynecologist
Doctor :   Bleeding in the first trimester can sometimes be a signal that there is a problem with your baby
User :   yes i will see someone when i get home
Doctor :   so its been 2 days now?
User :   well, it has happened two times in 2 days - yes
User :   but not ongoing.
User :   like i haven't had to wear a pad or anything - just 2 times when i went to the bathroom
User :   and then it stops and turns into light brown spotting when i wipe only
Doctor :   If your bleeding is abnormally heavy or lingers for more than a few days these are not good signs
User :   it is not abnormally heavy - not like having a period
Doctor :   these are are ONLY 2 options in first trimester bleeding . but a gynecological examination is MUST
Doctor :   it can be normal as in many women OR a problem with the baby, thats why recommend to see your gynec
User :   should i be staying in bed? or is it fine to walk around and continue doing things
User :   before i get to see my doctor
Doctor :   you can walk about and do normal things
User :   okay
Doctor :   when would you be going back to Canada ?
User :   not until thursday of next week
User :   should i go see someone in new york?
Doctor :   wait another day if its there then you should
User :   okay thank you
