User :   Hello Doctor, I am XXXXXXXX living in ....... I had a question for my mother's health
User :   My mother is aged about 59 years and had common cold for 4 days for now

User :   she took cold act one tablet per day....But looks like she had a relief from cold but have a terrible heaviness in the head
User :   Per my knowledge..none of our family members..including my grandparents had any sinus problems

User :   she tells me that steam inhalation and salt formentation on the forehead had given slight relief to her
User :   has she started to get sinus problem ?

Doctor :   Can you describe which part of head is aching, and can you also mention if the pain is throbbing in nature?
Doctor :   Such headaches in an illness are probably due to sinus collection or secondary to infection alone.
User :   she says it is upper back portion of the head
Doctor :   Sinus collection and thereby headaches are more throbbing in nature and are specifically located over the areas of the head.
User :   ok...would the home remedies like salt formentation cure it ??
Doctor :   Upper back portion (behind) are not classical of sinus headaches.
User :   or would she have to visit a doc as soon as possible
Doctor :   Hence its probably the stress or the infection alone that may have caused the headaches.
Doctor :   Let me suggest you the measures that you can follow.
User :   ok
Doctor :   1. Continue with the antihistaminics to help the nasal congestion.
User :   ok
Doctor :   2. Also continue with the steam inhalation.

Doctor :   3. Use analgesic such as Tab Dolo 650mg or Tab ibuprofen 200mg if there is headaches.
Doctor :   4. Proper bed rest is absolutely necessary.
Doctor :   5. Avoid physical strain.
Doctor :   6. Watch out for these symptoms
Doctor :   - fever, recurrent throbbing headaches, sorethroat, headaches with vomiting.
Doctor :   If these symptoms are seen you may need to see a doctor for physical examination and evaluation.

User :   Thanks doctor...I will suggest her Dolo 650 mg and will go as per your advice
User :   how many days does she have to take this tablet ?
Doctor :   These headaches usually will disappear as soon as the upper respiratory symptoms disappear.
Doctor :   The medications can be used as and when she gets the headaches.
Doctor :   They can be used maximum 4 times a day.
Doctor :   Upper respiratory symptoms are probably allergic or infective in nature.
Doctor :   Since, there are no associated symptoms, its probably allergic in nature.
User :   ok. Thanks doctor..your advice was very much needed to me now.
Doctor :   Hence you would also need to avoid dust or exposure to cold weather.
