Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   I had minor surgery to remove a lesion under my tongue about 48 hours ago. Since then my tongue has been very swollen, which the doctor told me was just a reaction to the anesthetic. It was stitched up with white absorbable stitches. This morning I noticed that the stitches themselves (or possibly the area around the stiches) seem to have turned a grey colour, although the knot part is still white. Also I have a slight pain on the right upper side of my neck which I presume is a lymph node. Is that normal?
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   I'm 24
Doctor :   May I know what type of suture material was used while suturing?
User :   I've no idea. It's white and absorbable. That's all I was told
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Absorbable sutures as the name suggested get absorbed by the secretions, the colour changes that you notice are probably due to the effects of the secretions over the sutures.
Doctor :   Watch out for symptoms such as severe pain, redness, fever, presence of pus discharges,
Doctor :   these are the signs of infections.
Doctor :   If you notice these changes, you may have to report to your doctor.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   No, that's great, thank you.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
