User :   I was just recently put on medicine for anxiety. I was having stomach pain and had an abdominal ultrasound performed. That scan was normal. I am still having a pulsing in my stomach when I lie down. I am not skinny and am concerned it could be an aneurysm. Should I have my doctor do another type of test to rule an Aneurysm out?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr. xxx
Doctor :   let me read your query now
User :   OK. Thank you.
Doctor :   What is your age?
User :   26
Doctor :   Do you have a family history of aneurysm?
User :   Not that I am aware of. I do have high blood pressure
Doctor :   What is the measurement?
User :   lately it has been running about 150/90
User :   Can high blood pressure cause my chest to pulsate like that?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   It can
User :   I am overweight. I did read that in skinny people the abdominal pulse can be observed
Doctor :   Yes
User :   but since I'm not skinny and have had the stomach pain I was concerned
Doctor :   IF the doctor suspects an aneurysm, there is a physical method to check it
User :   Well I did have an abdominal ultrasound done
Doctor :   Ok Did the doctor suspect any thing?
User :   It came back fine (checked liver, kidneys, etc.) I assume these check for aneurysms?
Doctor :   Ultrasound can detect big ones
Doctor :   Next is CT scan abdomen
User :   The doctor put me on medicine for anxiety. I have had a lot of hard things happen in the last two years (dad died unexpectedly, grandmother passed away, we had our first baby). I think I am just overly anxious right now
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Did you speak to a psychiatrist?
User :   No. I have been dealing okay with things. I have a good support system at home.
Doctor :   Great
User :   So, the ultrasound would've checked for anything that would be at a risk of rupture soon?
Doctor :   If you are so strong then all these are miniature things
Doctor :   Ultrasound is not the right test for detecting the suspected aneurysms
Doctor :   I guess your doctor is not suspecting it
Doctor :   Hence not ordered for CTabdomen
User :   at first he was thinking it was pancreatitus or gallstones
Doctor :   IT is just a screen
Doctor :   If the screening test is passed he would not be doing a CT scan
Doctor :   I think you passed the screening Ultrasound
User :   and then after the clear ultrasound we talked and discovered how anxious I am lately.
User :   OK. So do you think I should give my medicine time to work or ask him for a CT?
Doctor :   You should give time for medicine
User :   The ultrasound wouldn't found anything that was at high risk of imminent rupture?
User :   sorry...wouldn't=would've
Doctor :   yes it would have
User :   OK. Well thank you very much for your time today.
Doctor :   Pleasure here
User :   Have a nice day Doctor.
Doctor :   Thanks and same to you
