Child with mild fever, eye redness, living semi solid waste around it. Reason? - Online Doctor Chats
Hi Doctor XXXX . My 4 year old child is running very mild fever since last two days. The only thing abnormal is that her eyes sem unusually red and leave a lot of liquid semi solid waste around the eye in the morning.
is she having food properly ?
Yes she is having food properly sleeps well, not that active as normal but she is doing ok in general.
Not much body pain either.
Her eyes leave more than normal waste (I don't know the word for ir in english)
Eyes need to be cleaned 2-3 times a day because of that secretion.
Ok. Though the eye lids are not swollen yet as I see in conjuctivitis.
where did u see about that condition ?
Whenever I had conjucticivitis My upper eyelids were swollen.
usuallly bacterial infections cause too much of swelling
viral infections can be associated with discharge
Do you think we need to wait for a day or see a doctor personally today?
there is no need to wait
the earlier the better
We are getting an appointment only in the evening today. Any precautions till then?
THE discharge needs to be checked , and if needed , eye drops can be prescribed to prevent secondary infections
Any eye drop that we can put today before seeing the doctor in the evening?
for now, you can Try splashing clean, cool water on your child's eyes to relieve itchiness and redness.
no need for any drops until, a diagnosis is made
Ok. Thanks Doctor.
use warm water in a towel, to clean up the discharge
most likley it may be due to normal sleep induced scabbing
hence, no need for any prescribed drops
once your doctor sees her and then decides if she has a infection, then antibiotics can be used
