Doctor:Good Afternoon
User:hello doctor
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:good afternoon
User:my daughter 7.5 months
User:and it seems that she is teething
User:she is crying a lot...
User:and getting loose motions
User:so do we need to be concerned
User:she is eating well...
User:only thing is she is passing motion frequently
Doctor:No. You do not have to get concerned.
User:so do we put her on some kind of medication like ors or something similar
Doctor:Just make sure that she does not get dehydrated.
Doctor:Yes. Oral rehydration Salt will be required. what should be the quantity and how often should we feed her
User:i mean the ORS
Doctor:Loose motion usually is not associated with teething.
User:but thats the general belief i guess so
Doctor:Whatever she looses as fluid has to be replaced. So you can mix one ORS packet in one litre of warm water.
Doctor:And keep her feeding if she is not taking breast milk properly.
User:and when do we need to get alarmed or concerned
User:she is taking the mother's milk and solids properly
Doctor:Watch out for decrease activity.
User:but only thing is that sometimes she does cry a lot....
User:her activity are as normal....
Doctor:Crying can be because of the irritation she has on her gums. is there something that can be done for the gums?
Doctor:It can also be that she is having discomfort in her stomach.
User:we are giving her gripe water in the morning one time one teaspoon
Doctor:You can use teether which are cooled.
Doctor:Gripe water can increase the motion.
User:u mean the water filled teethers.
Doctor:For the time being you can stop giving gripe water.
User:so we can stop the gripe water for sometime
User:oh k...
Doctor:So the points you have to remember is
Doctor:1. Keep her well hydrated with breast milk and if needed ORS.
Doctor:2. Watch out for fever, decreased activity, blood or mucous in stool.
Doctor:3. Clean teethers can be used.
User:i did see some kind of mucous in her stool yesterday...a little bit...
Doctor:4. If loose motion does not come down by 2-3 days, please consult a pediatrician.
User:oh k...
Doctor:Have you followed?
User:thanks doctor...i will take care of the points mentioned by you...
