Child keeps getting cold and cough. Suggested to use Asthalin with the Zerostat device. Safe? - Online Doctor Chats
How can I help you?
My son is 6 years old. He keeps getting cold and cough often. Most times, steam inhalation, saline and Bricanyl syrup helps. But this time his congestion did not go with Bricanyl syrup for 4 days. So pediatrician suggested to use Asthalin with the Zerostat device and give 4 puffs 3 times a day. she says, this is safer and effective than Bricanyl. But since this is a Asthama medicine, I am worried, if it is ok to start my son on this for few days, even though he does not have asthama. I do not want him to use this life long. But if it is ok to use for few days and stop once he is ok, i think it is ok. Please advice me since I am confused.
Give me few minutes to read your post.
Sorry to keep you waiting.
so is it safe to use for few days
However asthalin has other uses too.
he has severe congestion and cough and could not sleep in the night
i gave steam inhalation multiple times, but still did not help much
thats why I thought if I should go for this asthalin
I am sure, your doctor has prescribed asthalin for precisely the reason of bronchoconstriction - which is seen in bronchitis too.
So I think it is safe to give that medicine now.
also another question doctor
or will they both clash
Asthalin and fluticasone do not interact with each other.
However if there is a suspicion of infection in the mind of your doctor,
it is better to avoid fluticasone nasal spray (if it can be avoided).
If your doctor did not prescribe fluticasone spray, it is better to discuss before you start fluticasone nasal spray.
Have you followed?
she told to use it
but not sure for what?
she had mentioned there is some fluid in ear and it looks dull
i had used this spray in oct 2012 for my son,
i had same bottle so is it safe to use that same or do I need to buy a new one?
the expiry is in 2014
These medications are safe, provided you use them as instructed by your doctor onlly.
ok thanks doctor, shall use it as doctor had directed
You can use the same one, if the expiry is within the expiry date.
Do you have any other questions?
no doctor. Thanks a lot
for your time
Before I conclude, I see you have posted a question about the same on my dash board.
yes doctor, you can ignore that
since I have chatted with you
Thanks for consulting me.
Bye for now.
