User:Hi Doctor
User:This is regarding my son.
User:He is having cold, cough and fever at times.
User:He is also having motions
User:His Age is 3 years 8 months
User:Our family doctor earlier suggested to give nebulisation (Budesal 0.5) for cough,
User:and Relent for cold.
User:Crocin when fever is there..
User:But since 4 days, it is not getting controlled
User:So do you suggest us to go for any more medication (antibotic like pecef)?
Doctor:It seems that he having a viral
Doctor:Usually it takes 7 - 10 days to get a complete relief from it
Doctor:But it should be getting better now
User:ok. fever is always around 99
Doctor:Is there any improvement or change since first day?
Doctor:For that much fever he does not need crocin
User:yes..but fever is not gettting reduced (infection seems to be not controlled0
Doctor:How about the runny nose?
Doctor:Is it reducing?
User:it is controlled well..seen rarely
Doctor:How about loose motions?
Doctor:How many times does he go for motions?
User:2-3times, its not loose motions. Plum is coming in the motions
User:2days back he vomitted and plum went out.
User:He was slightly relieved after that. But still he is having cough and fever at times
Doctor:I think he just has mild infection
Doctor:I think he will find relief soon
Doctor:We just need to take precautions till then
Doctor:Like give him gatorade for dehydration whenever he has a loose motion or vomitting
Doctor:If he wakes up at night to feed, give him gatorade only and no milk
Doctor:Give him pure drinking water to tackle any recurrent infections that he may be getting
Doctor:If he does not get better by 5th day, he will need tests
User:he is around 4years, he will not get up in the night
Doctor:Do you have any question here?
User:Can I know in which cases Pecef be given?
User:In earlier cases, we used to give him Pecef if Fever with infection didn't get reduced after 4days
Doctor:It is not indicated in viral infections
Doctor:It is an antibiotic
Doctor:Repeated antibiotics should not be given especially in mild cases
Doctor:We should trust the immunity
Doctor:We should take precautions rather than treatment
Doctor:Repeated antibiotics will make the kid resistant to antibiotics
User:yes doctor
Doctor:And whenever he will really need them they will have no effect on him
User:we will keep that in mind
Doctor:Not to mention the side effects of it
Doctor:Most infections get better on their own
User:thanks for your time Doctor
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me
Doctor:Take care
