Doctor:It is common to have reduced appetite with viral infection.
User:it is one week that this swelling has not subsided yet so i am worried
User:his exams are near so i cannot give him antibiotics
Doctor:Again do not worry, this will also improve as the infection subsides.
User:do i need to provide antibiotics?
Doctor:I believe you noticed some swelling in the neck.
User:swelling in left neck in 2 places
Doctor:If this is in the neck, the most common swelling that is nodular and pea like in shape is a lymphnode.
User:yes it is so
Doctor:It occurs secondary to infection that he has now.
Doctor:It might disappear once the infection reduces
Doctor:and sometimes it might persist for a long time too.
Doctor:So do not worry.
User:so will it heal naturally ?
Doctor:Yes, it will heal.
Doctor:Even if the swelling doesn't go away, do not worry.
User:so there is no need to start antibiotics right ?
Doctor:It will not cause any harm.
Doctor:I do not see any immediate need to start antibiotics now,
User:if there is mild fever should i continue with calpol ?
Doctor:continue with the 2 syrups given to your child.
Doctor:The most important thing at this point of time
Doctor:1. Check with your child if he is not able to eat because of any pain in the throat.
Doctor:If there is pain, then his throat needs to be examined for any tonsillitis.
User:if there is pain in throat he will not even drink soup
Doctor:If there is no pain, then it is good.
User:but he only likes soup and drinks pleanty of water
User:he is avoiding solid food that is the concern
User:saying it is causing stomach pain
Doctor:2. As I mentioned, it is normal to have reduced appetite with fever, but it is important that you feed him well with what ever he likes.
User:i dont know why
Doctor:If its soup give him that in plenty.
Doctor:Viral infection presents with wide range of symptoms.
User:k what about fruits ?
Doctor:Again all these disappear as the infection settles.
Doctor:There are no restrictions in diet.
User:dont told not to provide grapes which is fine
User:but other fruits should i give or not ?
Doctor:feed him well with what ever he likes, but avoid any products that is cold and refrigerated.

Doctor:That is good, wash the fruits well before feeding him.
Doctor:Lastly keep a watch on his fever.
Doctor:If the temperature is very high

Doctor:Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:yes sure
User:i beileve this is no indication for TB or momo right ?
Doctor:The symptoms are too short to term it as tuberculosis
