User:Hi, I need help on my daughter's dry lips problem
Doctor:Since when does she have it
User:She is 8yrs old
Doctor:does she drink enough water?
User:having cracked lips
Doctor:she needs to be taking atleast 2 litres in a day
User:Normally she drinks 2-3glasses of water per day
Doctor:secondly, she can apply vaseline petroleum jelly
Doctor:and just leave it like that
Doctor:she should not be licking her lips as that dries them out further
Doctor:if the vaseline also doesnt work
Doctor:take a few drops of glycerine and mix in a little water and apply
User:We have been applying lip balm, Til oil, Ghee for past 10 days
User:no improvement seen
Doctor:is there any redness around the lips, extending onto the skin?
User:No, it hasn't extended to skin. But slight bleeding from cracks seen sometimes
Doctor:is she licking these things off?
Doctor:that needs to be checked?
User:She touches with finger but no licking seen
Doctor:I think you should try using glycerine
Doctor:and make her drink enough water
User:which is better? vaseline petroleum jelly or glycerine?
Doctor:glycerine is better
Doctor:but she will find it difficult to keep it on in the day time
User:ok. Her skin is also very sensitive. If she walks under sun for 10 mins, it turns out red.
Doctor:she needs to apply a sunscreen
Doctor:she can use Cetaphil/Neutrogena sunscreen with 30-40 SPF
Doctor:otherwise she can get a sunburn as well
User:sun screen works for 2hrs or so
Doctor:it needs to be reapplied
User:she will go to school for ~10hrs/day along with commuting period
Doctor:it needs to be applied 20 minutes before leaving the house
Doctor:once she's in school
Doctor:she can reapply during games
Doctor:it does not need to be reapplied
Doctor:and then she can reapply befmeore heading back ho
Doctor:there is really no other solution
