User :   When I was a little girl, I had a huge mass of mucous in my chest that a doctor had to hook a machine up and pump the mucous out. Well, here I am 26 years later and everyday I am fully congested and constantly hauking up mucous out of my throat, every morning. Most of the time, it's yellow and then there are times when its black. Is that normal?

User :   No. Just the occassional or seasonal sinus infection from time to time.

User :   I don't smoke or drink.

User :   What does the black mucous indicate?

User :   no
Doctor :   either there is coal dust or altered blood from your stomach
Doctor :   coal dust in lungs
User :   what causes this and how can it be cleared?
Doctor :   when was the last time you saw a physician for this?
Doctor :   is there any cough?
User :   I haven't seen anyone for this. In the past 5 or 6 months is when I noticed the black mucous. But I've always had the congestion in my chest/throat for the longest and thought it was normal. It's always in the morning.

Doctor :   when does this come on usually, at what time of the year
User :   it's throughout the year. I get it more in the cold season.

User :   i have the headaches when i have the sinus pressure but that's always in the winter

Doctor :   like xray chest, xray paranasal sinuses
Doctor :   i also suggest that you avoid cold weather and dust
Doctor :   do you have any burning sensation in the upper stomach?
User :   no, but i have out of the blue, terrible sharp pains in my chest from time to time and it causes me to have a hard time breathing. Then it will pass. I don't know if its related to the whole mucous thing or another issue all in itself
