User :   Hi, I had unprotected sex with a woman however she is using the pill and has been for a while. She has taken the pill consistently without forgetting the pill for the last week, what is the likelyhood of pregnancy?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi
Doctor :
The oral pills though taken some times fail to prevent pregnancy.
Doctor :
This is known as failure of contraception
Doctor :
The oral pills are known to have a failure rate of 20%
Doctor :
Which means out of every 100 persons using the pills there are chances that 20 might get pregnant inspite of the pills.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   I see yes so far
Doctor :   it is difficult to predict the chances of your partner getting pregnant
Doctor :
Untill the results of pregnancy comes
Doctor :
Hence if she is experiencing symptoms of pregnancy then she can get a pregnancy test
Doctor :
have you followed.
User :   Yeah I think that is the best thing to do so far, to further my question
User :   in the meantime
User :   would it be best if she carried on taking the pill, or would a morning after type emergency pill be more appropriate in the short term
User :   as a 'just in case'
Doctor :   She can continue the pills that she is on
Doctor :
morning after pill can give additional benefits and can decrease the failure rates.
Doctor :
so she can use those too.
Doctor :
And the morning after pills will give the beneficial results only when taken before 72hrs.
Doctor :
Have you followed.
User :   Yes, thank you
Doctor :
Do you have any other query?
