User :   Thank you doctor. I need some help in dealing with insomnia

User :   I don't have chronic insonmia, although I had it in the past for a while
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   but occasionally I am getting stressed and finding it difficult to sleep. I worry about sleeping and this makes it worse
Doctor :   Ok.I understand.
User :   i was prescribed some pills in the past. what seems to happen is that I tend to believe that i can't sleep without them. And this makes it a hard habit to break
Doctor :   Ok.
Since when are you having Insomnia ?
Doctor :   And what is the medication that you are using ?
User :   Recently since the last 4-5 days. But on and off for many years
User :   Earlier I was prescribed Restyl 0.25 mg.
User :   I take this occasionally. But now I am getting worried that I am getting used to it
Doctor :   Ok.May I know since when exactly you have been having this problem , I mean the initiation ?
User :   When I had my baby. My sleep was disturbed during the initial months and it worsened. I had trouble sleeping well for 2 years or longer
Doctor :   May I know your age , gender, and if you are married ?
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I am 39, female and married

Doctor :   I shall advise you some steps to help releive from this condition : User :   ok
Doctor :   Last question ,May I know your height and weight ?
User :   5 feet 3 and 52 kgs weight
Doctor :   Ok, That looks absolutely fine .
Doctor :   Some means of non-pharmacological methods of curing insomnia include: *Making small changes such as discarding habits like- naps in the daytime.
*Exercising after early evening.
*Drinking a lot of alcohol or caffeine on a regular basis.
*Sitting or working in a room with a lively atmosphere right before going to bed.
*Eating too soon before dinner.
Doctor :   Alcohol, I do not recommend to you , but usually westners follow it .

User :   i drink 3 cups of coffee per day
Doctor :   One of the key elements of any behavior therapy is the practice of relaxation techniques. These practices are aimed at calming down the body, mind and soul and eliminating any stress causing factors that might be worsening the condition further.

Doctor :   I shall give you a list of best practises that you can experiment for 4 weeks and let m eknow again : User :   I will try that. thank you
Doctor :   1. Have a warm bath :This often helps. Bringing heat to the muscles often relaxes them and lets you get to sleep.
Doctor :   2.Get a massage. Again a good muscle relaxing technique. However, make sure that whoever is doing the massage knows how to do it. Causing pain never helped anyone get to sleep.
Please take help from your husband if necessary
Doctor :   3.Listen to music. Actually, any soothing noise (played softly) in the background may help. Rap or heavy metal music is probably not the way to go. Rather light, or relaxing, music helps many people sleep.

Doctor :   It is very relaxing or flute by chaurasia and has proven efficacy
Doctor :   4, Make your room more aromatic.
Doctor :   5.Drink warm milk. Milk has L-tryptophan, an amino acid that helps bring on sleep. Adding honey can often help.
Doctor :   6.Sleep with your head facing north (magnetic) and feet facing south. Some people swear by this.

This technique is often most useful when you tape the instructions beforehand. You can tape these instructions, reading them slowly and leaving a short pause after each one or listen to the progressive muscle relaxation track on our "Falling Asleep" CD.
