Can Syndopa be taken thrice a day? - Online Doctor Chats
Please proceed with your query.
Hi, my father is 77 years old and has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for about 9 years now. Although he was under medication (Syndopa Plus 2 tabs daily and Syndopa CR 250 once daily) he was having extreme difficulty in movement. Recently, about a month back he has been advised to only take Syndopa CR 250 thrice daily. Is it safe to take the prescribed dosage because I am unsure whether it is too high or in future would it be still possible to increase the dosage?
I have read your query
I did not get the reason to increase the dose
But usually the increase is not too much
Give me moment
Syndopa CR is a controlled release preparation
Let me check if it can be taken more than once a day
ok doctor. i will stay with you
Its dose should not exceed twice a day
For how long has he been taking syndopa
Are you thereÃ
syndopa plus 1 tab twice daily, 0.5 tab once daily and syndopa cr once at night during bed time. then it is changed to only syndopa cr 250 3 times daily
Are the other medicines omitedÃ
the above dosage was after almost 9 years til 1 monthback when the doctor chaged to only syndopa cr 250
yes syndopa plus is now omitted and switched to syndopa cr. so, is the dosage ok?
Initially the total dose is not to be more than 600 mg per day
But since he is taking levodopa for a long time I think it appropriately prescribed
Personally I feel the dose should be minimal
Whatever minimal dose helps controls the symptoms should be taken
I also think that the dose can be titrated according to symptoms
indeed. one more question: in future i amsur this willhave to be increased. woul that still be possible?
For this we need to know the maximum tolerated dose for this preparation
Generally upto 4 tablets in a day are well tolerated
Yes you may
Your father is the best person to know the dose
He will know which dose suits him
And at which dose the side effects happen
thank you very much for your time and guidance.
We need to keep the side effects minimal and benefits maximal
Thanks for coming on chat
good bye doctor
