User :   Hello, I slipped and fell last night and bumped by head pretty hard. I didn't loose consciousness, and my head doesn't really hurt. It happened around 1:20am last night and it has been over 12 hours since it happened. I do get really dizzy when I try and take a nap and get up. Makes me feel nauseous, but I haven't vomited yet. Is this normal?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello
Doctor :   Dr
User :   ok
Doctor :   yes, this is normal.
User :   I feel really dizzy right now
Doctor :   its just post traumatic stress
User :   what if I vomit because I am very dizzy, is this normal as well?
Doctor :   is there any disturbance in the vision ?
User :   nope, but when I would fall onto the bed fast, it felts like the room was moving around and around
User :   I would have to lay on the bed slowly for that effect not to happen
Doctor :   well if there is vomiting , its should be watched to see whether its a projectile or non projectile type of vomiting
User :   what is projectile and non projectile?
Doctor :   non projectile is one where the vomitus falls away from the body with force seen in stress and stomach problems , where as non projectile is one which is preceded by nausea and the vomitus falls very near or over the body
Doctor :   well watch for another 12 hours
User :   so the dizziness is normal?
User :   because that is what is making me nauseous.
Doctor :   and the dizziness could be due to distortion in the vestibular apparatus, which is the structure maintains the body balance
Doctor :   and the nausea can also be due to the same
User :   Yes, I do feel like I'm off balance when I get up to quickly
Doctor :   that is due to vestibular apparatus
User :   Is that bad?
User :   or is it normal?
User :   after a fall like this
Doctor :   and in any kind of minor head traumathere would be theses symptoms expected , as sometimes there may be mild contusion over the brain leading to mild edema leading to the symptoms
Doctor :   its normal
Doctor :   you need rest
User :   ok, I did get about 4 hours of sleep just now
User :   was like a nap
User :   because I felt really dizzy
Doctor :   if it was serious ( due to intracranial bleed ) you would have presented within 4 to 6 hours
Doctor :   with severe vomiting and loss of consciousness
User :   I didn't vomit at all yet, and I haven't lost consciousness
User :   I do feel like it because I do feel dizzy and off balance
Doctor :   that says you are normal
User :   ok
Doctor :   do not worry, just take rest
User :   ok, I am just scared because people write on the internet, they feel fine and the next thing you know they are in a ER
Doctor :   i do agree, the internet knowledge is to scare than to inform
User :   ok
Doctor :   ignore them
User :   ok
User :   I was just concerned about them because they do scare people off
Doctor :   yes, i kno
User :   will I still feel dizzy after 12 hours?
User :   and if so, how long will it usually last?
Doctor :   no, it would stop if you get a good sleep for some time
Doctor :   it may last not more than a day
User :   ok, so far it has started not to long ago
Doctor :   if it continues then meet your GP to examine your pupils size
User :   ok
Doctor :   and meanwhile watch for the type ( non projectile) of vomiting i mentioned
User :   I will try, but vomit to me, I go to the toilet and throw up
User :   it usually just comes out, I don't know what kind is what because I shut my eyes
Doctor :   get an idea
User :   So, if I am over the toilet, how would I know which is what?
User :   because is goes downwards
Doctor :   i agree, do not worry , if you vomit meet the GP to see your pupil size which will be narrow if there is a intracranial bleed ( which is a least possibility )
User :   Ok
Doctor :   is there anything i can help you with ?
User :   I don't feel dizzy now, or neaseous
User :   It is when I lay down and get up
User :   makes me feel like the room is going in circles
Doctor :   then thast not a matter to worry
Doctor :   just relax you are normnal
User :   ok, then that is all I had to ask
User :   Thank you so very much
Doctor :   You are welcome
User :   good night
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
Doctor :   Very good night
User :   i will do so
Doctor :   Take care
