Doctor:Good Afternoon
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Good Afternoon Dr. I met with a minor accident this morning as the rickshaw I was travelling braked suddenly and I banked my arm into one of the rickshaw bars. The area in my upper arm is now black and blue. What first aid should I give myself. Do you think I need to see a doc.
Doctor:I am sorry to know that you had met with an accident today.
Doctor:I would like to know some specific details about the injury to be in a better position to guide you.
Doctor:Are you able to move your arm without any pain?
Doctor:Is there any wounds near by the area?
User:Yes, I am able to move my arm. There are no open wounds. The injured area is right in the middle of my upper arm on the muscle area.
Doctor:From the details given by you, it seems like a bruise.
User:yes it is.
Doctor:Ok. I will guide you regarding this.
Doctor:Bruise occurs when there is a leakage of blood from the superficial blood vessels to the tissues under the skin.
Doctor:Is the site causing pain on touch?
User:Yes quite bad
Doctor:Is there an increasing swelling?
User:No. I had applied some ice after the injury
Doctor:Great. That is the first aid required to stop the bleeding internally.
Doctor:For the pain, you can take Tab. Dolo 650, 3 times daily, for 3 days.
User:Should i continue to apply ice or do I need to give hot compresses now.
Doctor:Hot compress you can start applying by evening today.
Doctor:The leaked blood takes time to get removed from the site.
User:so all I need to do is put hot compresses and some volini
Doctor:Though the blood gets removed, staining remains for around 7-10 days.
User:I was a little confused on whether to use hot or cold compress.
Doctor:I will explain about it.
Doctor:When you apply cold, the blood vessels become narrow, to maintain the temperature there to normal. And hence will cause the bleeding to stop.
Doctor:Once bleeding stops, the repair works starts immediately.
Doctor:After few hours, you can apply heat to increase the blood flow there. That way it removes the swelling and damaged material from the site.
Doctor:Have you followed?
User:yes thanks.
Doctor:So do not worry. It just takes a few days time to get over the stain.
User:o.k. thank you very much.
Doctor:Rest of the things, you are doing exactly as it is needed.
Doctor:Is there anything else I can help you on?
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
User:thank you.
Doctor:Have a nice day!!
Doctor:Bye for now.
