User :   I had surgery on November 9 on my ankle from a break in two places and then i had another surgery the following week and got a plate and 9 screws put in my ankle and it has been to weeks and i am going to the doctors on friday to get this splint off and be put in a boot, will i be able to put pressure on my foot when i get the boot?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi
Doctor :   let me read ur query
Doctor :   Since you have had a fracture of your foot, it will take some time before you can maintain your body weight on this affected foot
Doctor :   Since its been just 2 weeks, for proper healing at least 4 more weeks of less weight bearing will help in the healing process
User :   so i wont be able to put any pressure on it even with crutches?
Doctor :   But you can bear some weight on the foot, for your daily activites
Doctor :   with crutches, you can defintely bear weight , but not too much
User :   so i can walk with the crutches and like limp on my foot?
Doctor :   you can walk, with crutches as the crutches will take the weight of the body and leave the foot without any pressure on them
Doctor :   yes ,
User :   what about going up stairs?
Doctor :   you can walk upstairs, but is will be difficult as u will have to bear weight on your foot to climb the stairs
Doctor :   You can walk slowly though and taking your time
User :   ok
Doctor :   as u get more practice, you can walk more normally
User :   will it be very painful to walk on?
Doctor :   it all depends on your pain tolerance
Doctor :   initially yes
Doctor :   but with pain killers, the pain will be less
User :   im only taking tylenol right now i stopped taking pain killers will i need to take them again or will tylenol still work?
Doctor :   the tylenol will work perfectly
Doctor :   but if the pain increases, then u can take some ibuprofen for pain relief
User :   ok
User :   what about driving when can i drive?
Doctor :   there wont be any issue with driving
Doctor :   as no presure is put on the foot
Doctor :   if u have a cast in place , it will not cause any discomfort
User :   ok
Doctor :   but to drive , it needs a bit of agility to apply breaks and acccerate
User :   its not the driving foot i hurt
Doctor :   which u may find difficulty , depending on the pain u have and the severity of the injury
Doctor :   if its not the driving foot, then it will not matter much
User :   ok i need to get back to work so i wanted to see what i will expect when i go to the doctors friday
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   i hope your query have been answered ?
User :   yes thank you very much
Doctor :   you are welcome
