User :   what is breath holding spells
Doctor :   it is normally seen in children above 6 months of age where child stops breathing momentarily
User :   Shall we really worry about it?
Doctor :   What is the age of your child?
User :   12 months completed - baby girl
Doctor :   how many times did you observe her having these episodes?
User :   it started after 6 months age only and around 6-7 times. eg she was in a small kids chair and fell down accidently..
Doctor :   can you describe me the episode?
User :   Some kind of provocation is required. when she is playing with toys and my elder son comes and quarrel with her. then she starts crying but after that she even couldn't breathe, body becomes stiff. body becomes numb.. it continuous 515 to 20 seconds
User :   15 to 20 second
Doctor :   Breath holding spells are horrifying thing to be seen by parents but are harmless
User :   I suspect whether it may be epilepsy
Doctor :   to ensure that your child doesn't have them keep your child calm, give her enough rest and always make sure there is no provocation of any kind.
Doctor :   With her history the possibility of seizures is unlikely.It is wise to see a doctor.
User :   She herself climbs somewhere and fells and in this case also i have observed the episode

Doctor :   make sure that the child is in safe and secure place to avoid injuries. Hold her limbs and body when ever she is having a spell to protect her.

Doctor :   she doesn't have an idea of the spell at all and it is advised not to punish the child for the spell .
