User :   hi, i am on the implant but i had tender breats this has went away now, i have gained 2 - 4 pounds in the last month and this doesnt usually happen to me, i am gettin headaches but i do have exams at the moment, i havent had a period yet but they are never accurate due to the implant, i have no other symptoms, i had sex on the 12th of feb, could i be pregnant
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Your symptoms could be either due to the hormones that are released by the implant itself.
User :   i have had it for 2 years ?
Doctor :
However occasionally there are chances of failures too.
Doctor :   Especially if the implants are on the expiry limits.
User :   its a 3 year implant ?
Doctor :
Hence the chances of pregnancy cannot be ruled out completely.
User :   what do u suggest i do
Doctor :   I would advice you to get a pregnancy test to confirm the chances of pregnancy.

User :   but i have been told as i am on the implant and the hormone level is so high it will be negitive
Doctor :
That is true.
User :   its over a month so what are the symptons at 1 month ?
Doctor :
But since it is the most easily available test I had suggest that.
Doctor :
A confirmatory test would be an ultrasound examination.
User :   what should the symptoms be by 1 month
Doctor :
The early symptoms are generally headaches, breast changes, vomitings,
Doctor :
Mood fluctuations, food cravings.
Doctor :
But these symptoms are non specific.
User :   do you think i should wait a few weeks and see if i get anymore symptoms ?
Doctor :
In the sense it is not always that one has to have all these symptoms.
User :   could these just b side effects of the implant ?
Doctor :
Yes, Progesterone implants can also produce the same symptoms.
User :   i really dont know what to do
Doctor :
If you would like to wait.
Doctor :
I would suggest you
Doctor :
to wait for a week or two to see if you can get your periods.
User :   my periods usually miss a month though ?
User :   then i get 2 in the one month ?
Doctor :
But if these symptoms are persisting or increasing then get to your doctor for an examination and scan.
Doctor :
In the mean time there is no harm in getting a urine pregnancy test.
Doctor :
As a positive report would help in the diagnosis.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   if i am pregnant would any changes have happened in my stomach ?
Doctor :
It is too early to see noticable changes in the abdomen.
User :   yes i understand what you are saying doctor i am am just worried about this, i have no one to talk to
Doctor :   the chances of pregnancy are low,
User :   one last question ?
Doctor :   Proceed.
User :   i wasnt pregnant the last time i had sex with the implant which was 5 months ago would that not show that the implant works fine ?
Doctor :
That is why I had mentioned that the chances of pregnancy are low, especially if you have had these symptoms earlier.
Doctor :
However, if these symptoms are increasing and you develop other symptoms of pregnancy as mentioned earlier then it can indicate pregnancy.
User :   yes i understand
User :   where would changes occur in my breasts ?
Doctor :   The tenderness would be more diffuse,
User :   like should it be tender at my nipple or is it the outter part ?
Doctor :
more localised around the area of the nipple.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   yes i will leave it a few weeks then if it persists i will get a test
User :   thanks for your help doctor
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   nope everythingelse is great
Doctor :
