User :   I have a long standing problem

User :   which has aggravated over a period of 8 years
User :   I have bouts of pain in my back
User :   It is a constant irritant
User :   and is making work more and more painful for me

User :   It is there, but it is mild
User :   It is on lower back
User :   near my hips

User :   Not really
Doctor :   Ok before I can advice you on definitive treatment I would like to ask you few questions, Is it ok?

User :   No problems as such
User :   I think I am over-weight though

User :   Fell off my bike a couple of times
User :   Nothing serious though

User :   Juts a few bruises
User :   I have seen a orthopaedician
User :   he had asked me to take some pain killers
User :   and asked me to get a car,...couldn't afford one
Doctor :   Ok,after going through the history I could think of few conditions for your chronic and recurring back pain
Doctor :   They are Muscle spams due to poor posture, Lack of proper regular exercise and Over weight
User :   The orthopaedician had mentioned poor posture
Doctor :   Ok, that is fine. Now I would like to give some suggestions on treatment part .
Doctor :   Most back pain (80 to 90%) gets better with a few weeks of home treatment and careful attention.
Doctor :   A short period of bed rest is okay, but more than a couple of days actually does more harm than good.
Doctor :   The Home treatment includes hot fomentation along with applicative muscle relaxants
Doctor :   like ZANDU BALM, IODEX or MOOV
Doctor :   Hot showers too help a lot
Doctor :   Weight reduction is the most important positive factor for any overweight individual.
Doctor :   If the home remedies dont help you. A physical therapist can apply a variety of treatments, such as heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and muscle-release techniques, to your back muscles and soft tissues to reduce pain.

Doctor :   Regular low-impact aerobic activities .Walking and swimming are good choices.
Doctor :   Being overweight puts strain on your back muscles. If you're overweight, trimming down can prevent back pain.
Doctor :   Use proper body mechanics,
Doctor :   Stand smart, Choose a seat with good lower back support, arm rests and a swivel base
Doctor :   Move straight up and down. Keep your back straight and bend only at the knees while lifting
