User :   i've been throwing up dark coloured blood and passing out randomly for the past month now, i've been to the doctors who sent me for a chest x-ray which came back clear, they told me they dont know whats wrong
Doctor :   hi
User :   hi
Doctor :   what is the color of the blood that is passed in the stools?
User :   its not passed in just throwing it up
User :   but its dark red
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
are you coughing out or vomiting?
User :   vomiting
Doctor :   do you have pain or burning sensation in stomach?
User :   i dont right now...i did have when i was throwing up...and i randomly get like a gnawing kind of burning pain
Doctor :
do you have cough?
User :   no
Doctor :
User :   i did have for about 2 weeks, but ive just got rid of it
Doctor :
are you taking any medications?
User :   no
Doctor :   you had cough and chest x ray was taken at that time right?
User :   the chest xray was taken a couple of days before i developed the cough
User :   but i went to the walk in center about my cough/sore throat and was diagnosed with bronchitis and tonsilitis...but that's all sorted now
Doctor :
Doctor :
what medications you took for the bronchitis?
User :   umm erthmorycin...
Doctor :
User :   but i was vomiting blood and passing out before that...
Doctor :
Doctor :
passing out blood what is the color?
User :   no i dont mean passing out blood...i mean passing out as in fainting
Doctor :
Doctor :
from the description it seems the origin of the blood is from the upper GIT meaning stomach and duodenum
Doctor :   and usually it is because of the ulcer in the duodenum
Doctor :
also acute gastritis may also cause this vomiting of the blood
User :   i had a stomach ulcer last year so i know how it feels...this feels different
Doctor :
Doctor :
now it seems to be in the duodenum
Doctor :   you need to undergo a diagnostic upper GI endoscopy for the confirmation
User :   alright...
User :   so do i go to my doctors?
Doctor :   yes.also in stool examination you can check for the occult blood.
User :   ok...would this explain the fainting?
Doctor :   occult blood in the stool is the test detect the source of blood loss is from stools.
User :   i dont have blood in my stools
Doctor :   if the bleed is from the stomach it will be there and it is not visible in stools
Doctor :
so only it is called occult blood loss
User :   ohhh right
User :   so if theres no occult blood in it the bleed is from somewhere else?
Doctor :   since you are throwing up visible blood it is invariably from the digestive tract.
Doctor :   and the endoscopy would be helpful to locate the source of the bleeding in the upper git
User :   oh right ok
User :   so what about the fainting?
User :   does that tie in with the ulcer?
Doctor :
there are many reasons for the fainting
Doctor :   that includes blood loss and low blood glucose levels also
Doctor :
as you are having blood loss in the form of vomiting, it seems to be the reason for the fainting episode also
User :   oh right okay...
Doctor :
may i know your present Hb levels?
User :   what does Hb mean?
Doctor :
User :   my blood levels?
User :   i have no idea...
Doctor :
User :   last time i had a blood test was about 2 months ago...
Doctor :
even get it checked, because of the blood loss the hemoglobin levels will be low
User :   yea...
User :   i know from my test like 2 months ago i had a low blood count and low iron in my blood...
User :   but had something else that was really high n my doctor told me to stop eating fruit and veg for a while...
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
what was high?
User :   i cant remember what it was called...
User :   had a 12 in it i think...
Doctor :
User :   b12?
User :   im not sure
Doctor :
did you take iron supplements to increase the iron levels?
User :   i took them for a couple of days
User :   but then stopped ...
Doctor :
reason for stopping them?
User :   i just forgot to take them one day...
User :   then kind of just forgot about them all together...
User :   i dont like taking medicines
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
reason i am asking you all this is iron, pain relief medications all can cause erosive gastritis leading to blood vomiting
User :   yea thats why i dont really like taking them...since i had my stomach ulcer i was told to be careful with what medicine i take
User :   so i only take prescribed things now..
Doctor :
User :   and im not sure if its relevant...or links in at all??? but i've been bulimic for about 3 years now....
User :   i stopped last year after the ulcer...
User :   but started again a couple of months ago
Doctor :   yes this can cause the blood vomiting

Doctor :
it can cause tear in the mucosa and can lead to blood vomiting.
Doctor :
you need to stop bulimia.
User :   i know...
Doctor :   to overcome from bulimia what did you do?
