User :   Hi, I'll try to make this short. I have had a narrow eustachian tube on my right side since I was a kid, but haven't had ear infections in years. I started getting sick and had a bad ear ache on that side, but when I went to the doctor they said they couldn't see past a wax buildup, but prescribed me Biaxin. I used ear drops to break up the wax, but have had trouble hearing out of that ear, with an under water sensation for more than 5 days. I woke up today with a very sore jaw, right in the middle under my chin mostly, but also on both sides. Should I go back to my doctor?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Let me read it
User :   hey there
User :   ok
Doctor :
Doctor :
May I know your age?
User :   sure im 23
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :   You will need to be examined by an ENT surgeon

Doctor :
as there is associated with hearing
User :   ear nose and throat?
Doctor :
and also a sore jaw
Doctor :
User :   well, i can still hear pretty well., but its quieter and distorted
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Is it on one side or on both sides?
User :   it feels like either air or water trapped but thats just the sensation of course
Doctor :   Ok

User :   well, kind of both, but mostly on the right
Doctor :
Use of ear drops in excess shall also cause such issues
User :   i read some home remedy thing about swimmers ear, and it said to help get water out to cover your nose and blow air.... it was probably a dumb thing to do
Doctor :
and should be stopped after consulting the ENT surgeon
User :   so now it feels like i have air in the left ear, but the right ear is most bothersome and the originally infected one
Doctor :   Yes, such things are not encouraged

Doctor :
Yes, due to the fluid in the air
Doctor :
it shall cause you such problems
Doctor :
and you will feel like air is trapped
Doctor :
a vacuum like sensation as well
User :   what kind of treatment options might be suggested by the ENT surgeon? ive heard about tubes being installed but dont know much about it, or if it can only be done as a child
User :   yeah thats an accurate description
Doctor :   Firstly it has to be seen to rule out any infections

Doctor :
and that shall cause fluid discharge in the ear
User :   true, i suppose the biaxin might not be doing the trick
Doctor :
if that is the case, then antibiotics shall be required
User :   they have be on a 10 day course at the moment
User :   clarithromicin
Doctor :
Since you have not got help from biaxin, it could be said so
User :   true
Doctor :
Clarithromicin, are you on it right now?
User :   yes, and it has helped some, but i didnt have any jaw pain before i started taking it
User :   and 5-6 days into the treatment the jaw pain started
User :   and i havent used any drops in that time period
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
The jaw pain, in the area you are mentiononing
Doctor :
there are certain lymph nodes
Doctor :
And what is the route of antibiotic treatment you are getting? Topical or oral
User :   oral
Doctor :
Ok fine
Doctor :
You should complete the course
Doctor :
Meanwhile get the chin examined to see if there are any lymph nodes that are present
Doctor :
due to swelling
User :   ok i can do that. i usually just go to the local clinic, i dont even see my Primary Care Physician any more, so they dont have specialists on hand
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Physician is good enough
User :   cool
Doctor :   and should be able to help you

User :   excellent, thanks for the advice
User :   theres been a lot of snow in the DC area so i wanted to make sure i absolutely had to leave the house
User :   so youve been helpful
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   hmm... nope, i guess thats it, thanks a lot
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
