User :   I am a 23 yr old female. I tend to bleed when I have a bowel movement. I've actually been bleeding on and off for 7 years now. The past couple of years have gotten worse. I went to see a G.I. Dr who wanted to do a colonoscopy on me almost two years ago, but I had just had a baby and was breastfeeding. She wouldn't take a bottle. So I decided to wait to a colonoscopy. When I was done breastfeeding, my husband was laid off work and my job does not offer insurance. So I wasn't able to go again. The bleeding seems to happen everytime I have a bowel movement now. Sometimes it fills the toilet with bright red blood and other times its just alittle bit of blood. The past couple of months it has become very painful to use the bathroom. I find myself "hissing" under my breath so I do not make to much noise from the pain. Also, every now and then I notice that not only is it blood, but blood that floats to the top of the toilet forming like oil would for if you poured it in water...only looking closer it has a clear substance following behind underneath the blood on top. I am very scared. I still do not have insurance and I can not afford to have a colonoscopy. Please tell me if this is important enough to pay for. Please.
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here. let me read what you have typed
Doctor :   the colonoscopy in your case is improtant
Doctor :   to identify the cause for the bleeding and treat it
User :   what could the float blood be?
User :   **floating
Doctor :   it could be altered blood, or blood mixed with the muscus and secretions
Doctor :   you will need two things to be done
Doctor :   1) a stool test to look for any infection if responsible
Doctor :   2) a barium meal study along with a colonoscopy
Doctor :   discus with agastroenterologist about your symptoms and get these tests done, and proceed with treatment as indicated by teh results
User :   A stool test was taken 11 months after having my daughter. My stomach was cramping hard, along with blood. Dr put me in hospital where they couldn't enter my room without protective clothing. Test results came back clean. I guess they were checking for C-diff.
Doctor :   ok, it needs to be repeated again since you are having bleeding still
User :   how likely is it for a 23 year old to have colon cancer?
User :   thats the main thing I'm worried aout
User :   **about
Doctor :   colon cancer does not affect very young age, but it cannot be ruled out either
Doctor :   so a colonoscopy will help to visualise what is happened
Doctor :   and if a grwoth is seen, a biospy can be taken while doing teh procedure to send it for testing
Doctor :   to see if the growth is cancerous or not
Doctor :   do, not worry, first get the colonoscopy and the stool test done
User :   We can not afford a colonoscopy.
User :   We have a house we bought before my husband was laid off so that makes bills alittle tight
Doctor :   then discuss with your treating doctor about getting a Barium meal study done
User :   can it wait till my husband gets a job with insurance?
Doctor :   you cannot ignore your symptoms either, early recognition with early treatment is always better.
Doctor :   where are you located?
Doctor :   do you have free clinics in your place?
User :   TN
Doctor :   WWW.WWWW.WW Doctor :   visit this link to locate a free clinic in your place
User :   We have a health dept.
Doctor :   these take care of medical needs of people who do not have insurance
User :   Okay. I will go and look this up. Thank you very much for your help.
Doctor :   is there anything else i can help you with?
User :   I'm an answering service for dr's and people are always calling in with stuff like this. I guess it finally started worrying me.
User :   No, thats it. Thank you.
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me. bye for now.
