User :   My wife is 14 weeks pregnant. She experienced some Bleeding. It was red in colour. This was last week fri 5/3/10/ . She also experienced the same on Sat. However it was only once. She didnt have to use pad though. Today (9/3/10) we had a ultrasound scan. The doctor said there is 1 spot(minor) which indicates there is bleeding. ie there is an opening between the placenta and the baby bag. Our concern is how serious is this? Anything to worry?what can be done? what could be the reason for this. You may view our previous chat history as we had fish poisioning and urine infection

Doctor :
this is quite a serious issue with two episodes of bleeding in second trimester with ultrasound saying two spots of the separation between the uterus and baby sac
Doctor :   since it is still 14 weeks at most care should be taken till 34 weeks meaning next 20 weeks
User :   1 spot has healed though
Doctor :   yeah i read it
User :   what are the implications
Doctor :   first and foremost thing is not to panic
Doctor :   implications are the spots may recur and cause much bleed causing fetal under development to the worst and most serious complication abortion
Doctor :   primarily the treatment goal in these kind of situation is to see that no such complications does occur till 34 weeks after which it is very much safe to induce a delivery

Doctor :   if there is any other episode of bleed, first thing you should do is not to panic, keep calm and absolute bed rest
Doctor :
present yourself to gynecologist for the assessment
User :   my wife is working . How can she take bed rest
User :   Does she has to leave the job
User :   we have seen a gynecologist
Doctor :   during the episode of bleed she needs rest
User :   he has prescribed calcuim carbonate
User :   he said so far the baby looks healthy
User :   is kicking
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   what i mean is if there is any future episode of bleed during that time she needs to take rest, if she exerts there is possibility of more bleed
User :   ok
User :   anything else
Doctor :   and in this there is no compromise whether she is at work or not
Doctor :   continue the calcium and multivatimin tab
Doctor :
and also iron and folic acid tab
