User :   I discovered I was pregnant and at 7 weeks had what I believed was a miscarriage (felt like waters broke, extremely wet like I had wet my pants followed by thick brown discharge that continued for close to a week). I didn't visit a doctor as I did not want to be pregnant (recently left the relationship and will not return as he has since physically abused me) and was confident and happy I was no longer pregnant. 2 weeks on I have again started having a similar thick brown discharge. I did a home pregnancy test last night that has returned positive. I am a little confused, especially after searching the internet with notions like twins/losing 1 twin (ex partner has twins within his family), etc., and would like private advice on the likelihood of me actually being pregnant and what I should do from here (not comfortable in speaking with my regular doctor as if I am deemed to be pregnant I will quite likely be seeking a termination). Not sure if this is relevant information or not but I have a 5 year old son and did not have any bleeding throughout my pregnancy. Many Thanks. XXXXXXXX
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Please let me read through.
Doctor :
May i know your age?
User :   38
Doctor :
When was your last period?
User :   1st day of last period was 17th September
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
Since she has missed the period and the preg test is positive
Doctor :
and hence there is chance of pregnancy
Doctor :
But repeat the home preg test once again
User :   What about 2 weeks ago when I had all the symptoms of a miscarriage?
Doctor :   The possitive preg test indicates preg, but serum HCG tell us better whether preg is continuing or it is a miscarriage
User :   What's serum HCG?
Doctor :
HCG is the hormone that is present in pregnants
Doctor :
Serum is like blood
Doctor :
So blood HCG is done to see if the preg is continuing or miscarried
User :   So if there is a possibility I did not miscarry could the bleeding indicate I am now miscarrying?
Doctor :
Bleeding continoulsy is a sign of miscarriage
Doctor :
but this can only be confirmed either with physical examination by doctor or Serum hcg test
Doctor :
Since you are not comfortable seeing a doctor
Doctor :
Serum hcg test should be done
Doctor :
alternatively you can choose to take the Urine preg test once in every 48 hours
User :   How do I go about having a hcg test?
Doctor :
If the Urine ( Home ) preg test is on a repetition is turning negative then there is likely miscarriage
Doctor :
But this is not that reliable
Doctor :
THe best test is only Serum HCG test
User :   Where can I have a serum hcg test?
Doctor :
Which country are you from?
User :
Doctor :
Yoiu can get it any laboratory or diagnostic centre
Doctor :
but I still do not know if you can walk in and get this test done
Doctor :
without going through NHS
Doctor :
or Doctor
Doctor :
I wish you are not pregnan
Doctor :   * sorry yoiu miscarried
Doctor :
but that can only be confirmed with the above test
User :   OK thanks. If tests come back negative (which I hope they will) should I visit a doctor anyway? Don't want to invite other problems like infection.
Doctor :   I advice you to see a different General practitioner or doctor that whom you viisted earlier
Doctor :
Not at all doctor abuse patients
Doctor :   Are you clear in what advices I gave?
User :   Many Thanks for your time, I think you have answered my question and pointed me in the direction I now need to head. I will inquire at a diagnostic centre and otherwise consult another doctor. All in addition to staying away from my abusive ex who thinks it's all ok to spit in my face and kick me - charming!!! Many Thanks again, I appreciate your help. XXXXXXXX
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me

Doctor :
I give all the best to help you whenver you visit me again
Doctor :
Please do not hesitate to do so.
Doctor :
Bye
Doctor :
for now
