User :   I am a 34 year old female and I am having bladder infection symptoms with negative urinalysis. Frequent urination with some mild bladder pain. What could be causing this? I also suffer from anxiety so I am wondering if this could all be in my head? It is constantly on my mind to the point of not being able to think about anything else other than urinating. I don't wake up at night and I feel good in the morning, my symptoms start later in the morning.
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hi
Doctor :   Dr XXXXX here
Doctor :   Let me read your query for few minutes to be able to have a good discussion here
User :   ok
Doctor :   ok, yes it could be a chance where anxiety be the cause
User :   can my anxiety make me feel the urge to urinate
Doctor :   but have you got your urine culture sensitivity test done any time ?
User :   and even make me believe my bladder feels full?
User :   yes they did culture it and it nothing came back
Doctor :   yes, anxiety and obsession are associated with each other always
User :   so this very well could be my anxiety? ugh...well here's the thing, I take pyridium when it feels bad and I have noticed it's not working and that is what is making me wonder if it could just be the anxiety
Doctor :   also rule out any intravescicular anamoleis ( inside the urine bladder)
Doctor :   by a USG scan
User :   well they looked at my bladder years ago and everything was fine
User :   i used to get uti's all the time
User :   could something have changed?
Doctor :   yes frequent uti can lead to changes in the bladder wall which can cause urge incontinence to bladder fullness
User :   like what, cancer?
Doctor :   pyridium is a urine tract analgesic hence i consider problem in the bladder and urethra more than anxiety
Doctor :   No, i do not mean cancer
User :   what do you mean? if the pyridium is not working you think it is definately not anxiety
Doctor :   due to the infection the bladder wall may loose its normal contour in the inner lining which can produce such symptoms
Doctor :   no, pyridium is an analgesic , relief with that will point some local problem than a central one
Doctor :   cant say defenetly not anxiety
User :   sorry i still don't understand?
Doctor :   unless the tract problem is ruled out
Doctor :   the pyridium is an analgesic which is excreted in the urine , hence it gives relief from any inflammatory happenings in the tract
User :   but if i had an issure with my bladder wouldn't the pyridium be doing something?
Doctor :   if relief is found with pyridium
Doctor :   then it points towards local cause
User :   so what would be a central cause?
Doctor :   after ruling out local causes with scan the one of the common central cause to be considered is anxiety
User :   so what kind of scan is it?
User :   ultrasound?
Doctor :   yes,
User :   so other than a uti what could be causing symptoms?
Doctor :   strictures in the urethra, any obstruction to the urethra with stones
User :   ok well based on what i have told you, do you think it is probable my symptoms are from my anxiety and obsession with it?
Doctor :   consult a urologist for the scan and to rule out other causes
User :   again do you think this could all be anxiety based on what i have told you? and i will still follow up with my doctor
Doctor :   yes, it could be but confirmed only after the local causes are ruled out
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :   Thanks foe consultin me
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   take care
