User :   Dear Sir, I am new to this discussion. I am 30 year old male. I have multiple lumps all over my body. some of them are on my arms, thighs and buttocks. they are all smaller in size , around a cm in diameter, soft, round shaped. I have consulted doctors and have all the tests done way back in 2005. They said they are fatty tumors and they also informed me nothing to worry about them. Since then the number of tumors remained almost the same. I have recently visited a surgeon for removing some of them on my arms. He said they are neurofibromas simply by physical examination. And two days later i had a surgery and removed 3 of them. Now i am really confused whether I have lipomas or neurofibromas. The removed lumps are in light rose color. Moreover, in this month i am going to get married. Does they affect my married life. Can I have children like others? Neither my father nor my mother has them. I have seen lot of pictures in the internet. Most of the pictures resembles my lumps are actually lipomas. Was in confusion. Help me.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr. XXXX
User :   Hello
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   nice to chat with you sir
Doctor :   Give me couple of minutes
User :   please take u r time
Doctor :   Whether it is lipoma and neurofibroma, both are benign and not at all worrisome
Doctor :   They are 100% safe
Doctor :   You can get them removed if you want
User :   thank you sir
Doctor :   The Doctor should have sent to a Biopsy examination
Doctor :   to confirm whether they are lipoma or neurofibroma
Doctor :   Sometimes it is difficult to say with examinations
Doctor :   Hence biopsy can be useful
Doctor :   They are very common and will be for many people
User :   earlier I had a FNAC test in 2005 and they said they are fatty tumors
Doctor :   Biopsy is better than FNAC
Doctor :   FNAC - fat, it is most likey lipoma
User :   but the recent surgeon said they r neurofibromas simply by physical examination
User :   Oh, I see
Doctor :   Do you be confused by going to different surgeons
Doctor :   Do not*
User :   Ok sir
Doctor :   Forget about them
User :   Bit relaxed now
Doctor :   You are a normal person, you can get married as others and enjoy family life
User :   Thats what I want to confirm
Doctor :   Nothing to worry

Doctor :   Is there anything else you want to ask?
User :   Does they cause any problem except cosmetic issues
Doctor :   No
User :   are they any ways of stopping growing them or minimizing their growth
Doctor :   No way
User :   One more question, Does my children wil face the similar problem which i am facing now
User :   since i am going to marry soon, I am asking this question
Doctor :   May or may not
Doctor :   Not related to genetics
Doctor :   The cause is unknown in fact
User :   yes sir , lot of other doctors said the same
User :   since i am also a reaearcher, am bit more interested to know the causes
Doctor :   Are you with me?
User :   recently heard about neurofibromatosis, but the pictures does not resemble the lumps i have. Infact my lumps are soft if one touches, easily movable in both directions, if one presses, wil have finger prints on them for a moment
User :   yes sir
User :   some more confusions , Can I go ahead
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   The above signs indicate / favourable towards lipoma
User :   but the surgeon said, lipomas are white/yellowish in colour where as my lumps that were removed are in light rose color
User :   please bare whith if u feel i am too much worried
User :   spend some time to satisfy myself sir
Doctor :   That is why the biopsy comes handy here
Doctor :   Biopsy confirms the diagnosis
User :   alright, i will get it done
