User :   My son has what appears to be either a patch or small dark purple growth on the left side of his throat. This seems to have come on in the last day or so because the doctor did not spot in when she examined his throat for a bad cold a few weeks ago. Any idea what it could be?

User :   He has sounded congested for the past few weeks although he no longer had the cough that he had three weeks ago.
User :   there is a little bit of swelling and the rest of his throat his normal in color. He has been sneezing for the past few days. Could he possibly have developed strep?
Doctor :   no , he would be more sick if strep
Doctor :   it could be tonsillitis , the cold he had might be a viral fever which has reduced the local immunity leading to a bacterial infection leading to tonsillitis
User :   Everyone in our family has been complaining of the dry air and the lack of humidity. Could it possibly be a broken blood vessel?
Doctor :   He needs to be examined by a otorhinolaryngologist

Doctor :   a week is more. proceed to ER and get a consultation and examination by the specialist
