User:hello doctor
User:my wife is joined in a hospital for delivery now
User:they saw that the baby has pooed inside the womb and needs operation for delivery
User:is it true that a baby pooes inside the womb.
Doctor:Yes it is true
User:does it cause an amergency
Doctor:That happens when the baby has a difficulty and the normal delivery is not possible
Doctor:Yes, it is an emergency
User:the doctor has said that the baby has swallowed the pee and will have difficulty in breathing
User:will there be any problems if operation is done instead of normal delivery i am worried
Doctor:Usually just swallowing the meconium(poo) will not cause serious problems
Doctor:but the fact that your baby has passed the meconium inside the womb means that your baby had difficulty and was under stress due to insufficient blood supply
Doctor:The surgery(Caesarian section) if done by an experienced obstetrician is safe
Doctor:At times it is the only way to make sure that the baby survives
Doctor:as any surgical procedure, it also has some risk
Doctor:But it is the most common type of surgery performed
Doctor:You need not worry
User:how can we avoid such cases like you said ... under stress due to insufficient blood supply
Doctor:It essential to save the baby
Doctor:By careful monitoring
Doctor:It is quite difficult to explain to you the process of normal delivery and why babies undergo stress
Doctor:there are several reasons why it can happen
Doctor:most commonly because of something called as cephalopelvic disproportion
Doctor:that means, either the baby's head is large or the mother's pelvis(Birth canal) is small
Doctor:You will not be able to do anything in such conditions.
Doctor:stress to the baby can be avoided by early caesarian section
Doctor:the option in any case will be surgery
User:is it true that if first delivery is through operation the second one also will most probably be through operation
Doctor:You should have taken your wife to the hospital much earlier, or as soon a the pains started, then the doctors could have assessed the condition and could have told you the next steps
Doctor:Yes that is true
User:actually my wife is at her home town
User:she complained about pains in the evening she got admitted in the hospital
Doctor:What ever the reason, once the baby passes motion in the womb, operation is the best way to deliver
Doctor:Is there anything else?
User:Can this stress to the baby be identified in the initial scans ?
Doctor:It can be predicted if you keep visiting your doctor every week in the 9th month
Doctor:and only the scans done a day or two before the delivery can predict this
Doctor:but not always
Doctor:this assessment is done during the course of the labor(Delivery)
User:are there any precautions that can be taken atleast to avoid such scenarios in future deliveries?
Doctor:If the first delivery is by caesarian, you should practice family planning for the next 5 years
Doctor:that means no pregnancy for another five years
Doctor:you can plan your next pregnancy after 5 years.
Doctor:This is the first precaution
Doctor:secondly, you should visit your treating doctor regularly
Doctor:that is, once a month from the first month till 7 months
Doctor:once every 15 days from 7th month till the completion of 8th month
Doctor:after that every week till delivery
Doctor:Follow all the instructions of your doctor
User:yes we are visiting doctor regulary as you said for my wife
Doctor:get the scanning done in the 8th month
Doctor:make sure that your wife does not have diabetes during pregnancy
Doctor:and also make sure that her hemoglobin is above 12grams%
Doctor:admit your wife one week before the expected date of delivery
Doctor:if the reason for this operation is cephalopelivic disproportion, it is highly likely that she will have the same problem next time also
Doctor:so opt for an elective caesarian section before your wife goes into labor
Doctor:That means, once pregnancy has crossed 37 weeks, you should ask your doctor for a planned caesarian section so that your baby will not suffer
Doctor:You should consult with a good obstetrician
Doctor:Is there anything else you want to ask?
User:thats all doctor. thank you very much for your suggestions
Doctor:Thank you for consulting me. I wish your wife will have a safe surgery and delivers a healthy baby
Doctor:Take care, Bye for now
User:thank you very much
User:bye doctor
