Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   Hi
User :   i have a 6 month old baby
Doctor :   Proceed with your query
Doctor :
Ok
User :   I'm breast feeding her still
Doctor :
Fine
User :   for the past 3 days she completely refuses to drink ...only at night during her sleep she drinks 2-3 times
Doctor :   Ok
User :   she cries a lot if i try to make her drink
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
Other than breast milk, is she on any supplementary feeds?
User :   yes for the past 4 months she is given supplementary feeds
User :   lately there is no change in her eating schedule or type of food
Doctor :
What kind of feeds is she on?
User :   cerlac/nestum & ragi with other cereals for the night
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
Is she taking these supplementary feeds comfortably?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
I will explain you
User :   some times she is cranky
Doctor :
After 6 months, supplementary feeds forms 50% of baby's diet
Doctor :
and the remaining is fulfilled by milk, either breast milk or cow based milk
User :   i'm working so i feed her in the morning and later only at night or late evenings...everytime i'm back from office she used to drink..but now she cries
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Is she active?
User :   yes but not so much as before..last 3 days she has slight temperature..but she is better now
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   At the time of temperature, activity and the feeding will reduce
Doctor :
It will take 2-3 days to subside
Doctor :
She will regain her feeding habits
Doctor :
and since she is able to take other foods as usual there is no need to worry
User :   ok..as she is not breast feeding so much..can i have any medication to reduce the milk..i'm having sever pain and leaks ..its a little difficult to manage in the office
Doctor :   As the baby is not taking much of breast milk
Doctor :
the engorgement of the breast is normal
Doctor :
Collection of milk will cause pain
Doctor :
So, ideal is to express the milk slowly and can feed the baby
Doctor :
if the baby does not take it, it can be discarded
Doctor :
This is the first measure advised
User :   but collection and storing in the office is difficult
Doctor :   Express 2-3 times/day either in morning or in the night
Doctor :
The second measure advised is medications to supress lactation
User :   my work schedules are hectic..some times it gets difficult to take a break in between to express milk
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
You can go for medications as a second line
Doctor :
Usually Bromocriptine 2.5 mg tablets are advised
Doctor :
but it is not over the counter drug and needs
Doctor :
a prescription
Doctor :
But this tablet will help to supress the lactation
User :   oh ok..so i will have to visit the doc personally to get the prescription
User :   when do i need to take these tablets
Doctor :
Anti-inflammatory drugs like Brufen 400mg will reduce the pain and swelling
Doctor :   Needs to be taken 2 times a day
Doctor :
But only after a prescription
Doctor :   Is it clear?
User :   ok will visit the doctor today
User :   yes
User :   thanks
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
Doctor :
