User :   Hi There,

I understood I'm pregnant yesterday. This unplanned and unexpected pregnancy. I was ill two weeks ago - flu with high temperature 39 degrees which I kept 3 days, took a lot of tablets on every 3-4 hours and antibiotic. When i understood I'm pregnant read a lot of information - it's very dangerous, high risk to damage between 2-12 weeks of pregnancy to take tablets. Could you give me advice May I make some test to understand if there is any genetic problem, because if there is something i would like to stop this pregnancy.

User :   i think i'm in now
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
could u mention the tablets you took
User :   paracetamol, nurofen, upsarin, fervex, coldrex penicillin
User :   i took a tablets on every 3-4 hours
User :   i kept i high temperature 3 days
Doctor :
what month of gestation are u in
User :   it should be first month my last monthly cycle was in jan 2010
Doctor :   ok
User :   i read it's very dangerous betwwen 2-12 weeks
Doctor :   it is worrisome but
Doctor :
just hope that there is no such future episodes
User :   but what may a make any test because if there is something i would like to stop this prenancy
Doctor :   get an ultra sound done
Doctor :
then u will have an idea
User :   is this will be helpful what aboout a genetic test
Doctor :
usually multiple episodes of high fever causes fetal malformation
Doctor :
this will be more helpful
Doctor :   genetic testing is usually done to confirm inherited disorder
User :   but the ultra sound can find any malformation
Doctor :   do u have any vaginal discharge abdominal pain dizziness or sweating

Doctor :   are u there?

User :   sweating
User :   yes sorry
Doctor :
no problem
Doctor :
so do u have any vaginal discharge abdominal pain dizziness or sweating
User :   only sweating
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
then i would suggest u get a serial serum beta hcg which doubles every 48 hours
Doctor :
if that test results are good then your fetus is doing fine and get a physical examination done by an obstetrician
User :   the most important thing is there any risk because if there is i would like to stop this pregnancy
Doctor :   there are a few conditions such as toxoplasmosis rubella etc which if u get then there is chance of fetal malformation .
Doctor :
so u need to get some tests done to rule out those infections
Doctor :
PCR-tests of the amniotic fluid
Doctor :   are u there?
User :   to which week i should do this test
User :   i booked an appointment to my gp for next week but i'm worried and can't sleep
Doctor :   you can get it done from 2 nd week to 16 week

Doctor :
its not as worrisome as it sounds as the symptoms u have mentioned seem that of normal fever
User :   yes it was a normal fever but i took a lot of tablets
Doctor :   paracetamol is safe to take during pregnancy
User :   and that's why i'm worried
Doctor :
what was the dosage u had taken
User :   but i didn't take only one or two one week on every 3-4 hours
User :   i took one week on every 3-4 hours - 2 tablets
User :   and after that a penicillin as well
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
its nothing to worry
Doctor :
it has been seen over years that penicillin is safe during pregnancy
User :   ok but i read a lot of information and this is dangerous and there is high risk from malformation
User :   i would like to be 100% sure that's evrything is ok
Doctor :
please do not go by articles on websites as they usually are misguiding and also worrisome to you
Doctor :
yes i understand your concern
Doctor :
you will have to get the tests i had mentioned done
Doctor :
they will confirm your fetal well being
User :   i would not like a maloformation baby
User :   the pcr test
Doctor :
at six weeks u can get a ultra sound done for reassurance also
Doctor :
yes also the serial serum beta hcg test
User :   can my gp do this or he should send me to specialist
Doctor :   no he can only prescribe these tests after a physical examination
User :   or you mean i can get this tests my self
Doctor :
but if u prefer an obstetrician then thats fine too
Doctor :
i would suggest u meet a doctor and then proceed to the investigations would be better
User :   and these two test will give me accurate information and i can believe them 100%
Doctor :
yes
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :
at this point of your pregnancy they are the best indicators
Doctor :
no problem
Doctor :
is there anything else you would like to know
User :   if my doctor is not aggree wtih me and don't prescribe me these tests may i buy my self
User :   can he give me up this investigation
Doctor :   you can get them tested on your own but the doctor will order the tests i have mentioned

User :   if he says it's not necessary what i should do
Doctor :   he wont but if he does tell u . get the tests done for your assurance
Doctor :   is there anything else you would like to know
Doctor :   are u there?

User :   are these tests i can find in any pharmacy the united kingdom
User :   yes
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :   u can get them done in lab
Doctor :
it needs a lab facility
User :   ok thanks
User :   what specialist are you
