User :   Hello Sir
My mother aged around 58 Years, suffering from cough with blood (sometimes) from last two days. She has headache and neck pain. During exercises if she rotates the head she will get dizzy.

My mom has dizzyness from last three months and cannot sleep properly. When I took her to doctor, she informed that she has vertigo problem and gave tablets but there is no outcome from that.

Day by day its becoming severe which has turned to get cough with blood. Could you please assist or suggest me why its happening and what should i do immediately ?

Doctor :   hI
User :   hi
Doctor :
Let me read it
User :   sure
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Now did she have fever in the recent past?
User :   no
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Has she suffered from such complaints in the past?
User :   except dizzyness and headache, no other complaints
User :   dizzyness also started from last 3 months
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Now I shall explain you
Doctor :
The cough and headache is not related much
Doctor :
But the headache and dizziness along with neck pain
Doctor :
are interrelated
Doctor :
this happens in cases of cervical spondylosis and/or spondylitis
User :   is it serious ?
Doctor :   No

User :   what should i do as a next step, doctor
Doctor :
It is a problem seen in advanced ages
Doctor :
Sure I shall suggest you on that
Doctor :
I would advise you to meet an orthopedic surgeon
Doctor :
for a physical examination
Doctor :
this is not a serious condition
Doctor :
only the symptoms are of discomfort
User :   but she looks too much tired from last two days after cough with blood
Doctor :
there is not pathology/organ problem
User :   and that is not continuous
User :   sometimes
Doctor :
I have not come to the cough right now
User :   from morning two times it happened
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
I shall tell you
Doctor :
First of all consult an ortho for this problem
Doctor :
Coming to the cough issue
Doctor :   Since when is it present?
User :   from two days
Doctor :
Ok
User :   yesterday started
Doctor :
And the blood also since 2 days?
User :   yesterday only cough
Doctor :
Ok
User :   today the cough comes with red color
Doctor :
Fine
User :   she has pain in throat
Doctor :
This is due to the stress caused to the internal tissues
Doctor :
which break
Doctor :
and there would be slight bleeding
Doctor :
which comes out with the sputum
Doctor :
Mainly a viral/bacterial infection
Doctor :
Viral infection usually improves after 3 days
Doctor :
If it is not improving
Doctor :
then bacterial could be suspected
Doctor :
and should be started on antibiotics
Doctor :
Is she Diabetic?
User :   no
Doctor :   Fine, thats good

Doctor :
So for this problem
Doctor :
I would suggest you to give one cough syrup
Doctor :
Syp TusQ X, 2 tsp thrice daily after food
Doctor :
Give it for 2 days including today
Doctor :
and by Saturday if she does not she any improvement then antibiotics would be necessary
User :   ok... is it possible to give antibotics name so in case if it is not improving i can proceed with that
Doctor :
That is not advisable to give without examining the patien
Doctor :
So you will need to take her for a Physical examination
User :   ok that is fine...
Doctor :
and do discuss about the antibiotics with the doctor
Doctor :
Meanwhile give her the cough syrup I mentioned from today
User :   in case if the syrup is not available any other alternative can be advised
Doctor :   Let this settle down and then you can take her to an ortho
User :   since i stay in rural place and they keep only few syrups
Doctor :
Syp Brozedex is the alternative, but TusQ X would be available
Doctor :   It is an expectorant syrup, ok I shall give you 3 names

Doctor :
TusQ X/Ascoril/Brozedex
Doctor :
All 3 are leading names
Doctor :
So you should get it
User :   ok..
Doctor :
The dosage is the same and let her take it after food
User :   doctor i am from outskirts of bangalore, do you have reference to orthopedic surgeon
Doctor :
And if the pain increases or the fever is evident then you can give her Dolo 650 as needed, not more than 3/day
User :   so i can take her to the hospital
Doctor :   Sure we can help you to fix an appointment with the ortho

Doctor :
From which place you are?
User :   I am from Hoskote... It is 27 kms from Bangalore
Doctor :   Ok

User :   But travelling is not a problem
Doctor :
It has professors in the hospital
Doctor :
So you should get good help from there
User :   ok
User :   where it comes
Doctor :
In Hoskote only
User :   oh you mean MVJ College
Doctor :
MV Jayaram Medical college
Doctor :   Yes

Doctor :   Have you been there previously?

User :   yes but experience is not very good :)
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
If you talk in terms of the time spent with the patient and the ambience issues
Doctor :
Yes I agree
Doctor :
But the medical opinion would be good
User :   I cant comment anything but need to see doctor
User :   i will take her there as a first step
Doctor :
Anyway I shall give you the link for the leading orthos in Bangalore
User :   that will be great
Doctor :
We can assist you in fixing the appointment with the doctor of your choice
User :   ok, can you give me the list of doctors and the place they reside
Doctor :   WWW.WWWW.WW
Doctor :   Copy paste the above link

Doctor :
I am sure you can decide upon it further
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?

User :   doctor.. i will take my mom to MVJ as you suggested
Doctor :   Sure
Doctor :
That would be fine
User :   if the response is not good then i will take an appointment directly here
User :   do you suggest any diet for her
Doctor :   Right

Doctor :   Till the cough subsides, she should avoid cold foods

Doctor :
outside foods
Doctor :
let her take properly cooked goods
Doctor :
and good hygienic water
Doctor :
She should avoid lemon, musambi and orange as well
Doctor :   Thats it

Doctor :
Not too many restrictions
User :   in general
User :   based on the age
Doctor :
That depends on the blood sugars if she has checked
Doctor :
and also the BP and cholesterol levels if she has tested
User :   she doesnt have blood or sugar. but sometimes BP varies
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
The diet is specific
Doctor :
and not generic
User :   she takes bit salt much
Doctor :
for each condition
Doctor :   Universally for everyone it should not be more than 5 gm/day
Doctor :
But Indians take in higher amounts
Doctor :
Practically if her BP is fine
Doctor :
No need to worry about salt intake
User :   ok...
User :   can i ask about my father also in this chat
Doctor :   Sure

Doctor :
You can proceed
Doctor :   But I would advise you to go through the chat once more after we end

Doctor :
so that you dont forget the things
User :   My father has a problem when some one pinches or his skin been pressed
User :   I am noting down doctor
Doctor :
the chat will be saved in your chat history
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
What is the issue like?
User :   the portion will become fully black color with red mixed
Doctor :   Ok

User :   he has a veezing problem
User :   and always his legs will get swolen
Doctor :
I would suggest him to check his CT,BT and PT
User :   yes its done and seems fine
Doctor :
there are the blood clotting parameters
Doctor :
Thats good
User :   i took him to manipal just a month back
Doctor :   Ok

User :   do you need any reading
User :   so i can help you out
Doctor :
What was the reason to visit Manipal?
User :   i can bring his reports
Doctor :
No if it is normal then not required
User :   he had a fever and the body turned to bluish
Doctor :   Ok

User :   so in hoskote the doctors were not able to treat him and asked to take to bangalore
User :   so we took him there
Doctor :   Ok

User :   but when we informed this
User :   doctor told that his blood has less red blood copursels
Doctor :   Ok

User :   and they gave treatment but not really helped and stil has the same problem
Doctor :   But the reason could be oxygen insufficiency

User :   for bluish they told oxygen insufficiency
User :   not for blod clott
Doctor :
Yes
Doctor :
as he has wheezing as well
User :   yes
Doctor :
and even the skin problem could be due to this
User :   anything can be done for this
Doctor :
Sure
Doctor :
He has to get a thorough check of this oxygen saturation levels and also the respiratory issue
User :   can i take him for any health check
Doctor :
Not a health check, meaning labaratory
Doctor :
He should meet a General Physician or a Pulmonologist
Doctor :
In MVJ if you can go to Internal Medicine department
Doctor :
and have consultation with a Professor
Doctor :   That would be the right approach for now
User :   so i need to ask them for checking oxygen saturation levels and respiratory issues right
User :   i mean to check
Doctor :   Yes

Doctor :
That is the approach
User :   ok... then if there is any next step or action should be taken then the doctor will provide us information right
Doctor :   Yes, he will

User :   Thanks doctor it was an excellent chat with you... it gave me some kind of happiness as i got most of the information in this chat
