User :   Hi , My wife is 28 weeks pregnant. her AFI level is 10. need to consult a doctor on risk levels
User :   hello doctor
Doctor :   hello
User :   my wife is 28weeks pregnant and with AFI of 10
User :   is it a matter of concern
Doctor :   may i know her age please ?
User :   24
Doctor :   does she has any other medical condition ?
User :   no
Doctor :   The amount of amniotic fluid has a certain range of normal values
Doctor :   with the normal range from 8 to about 18.
User :   she is having medicines like ARG 9 and an injection.
Doctor :   Your score of 10 is slightly lower than the median score for 28 weeks, which is 14.6. But your score is still well within the normal 8-18 range
User :   she is been advised to do sonography every week and an injection
Doctor :   The AFI can be used to determine fetal well-being. It is part of the more complete "Biophysical Profile" to assess whether a baby's in danger or not
Doctor :   so there is nothing to worry about
User :   she has been advised a bed rest
Doctor :   yes thats correct
User :   so is it sa panic situation
Doctor :   no it is NOT a panic situation
User :   the sd ratio is 2.90 but the doctor has asked for sonography weekly for sd ratio and afi. is the sd ratio normal
User :   and what is it
User :   her pressure was high initially but with alpha dopha tablet its in control with 77-130
Doctor :   thats good
User :   what is sd ratia. its 2.90 at the moment.
Doctor :   The systolic/diastolic (S/D) ratio is a measurement of the umbilical cord artery that compares the systolic with the diastolic flow and identifies the amount of resistance in the placental blood
User :   at what week the delivery is safe
Doctor :   it can be from 37 to 42 weeks
Doctor :   it depends
User :   i mean at the earliest. as the doctor said if the afi goes below the range they may have to deliver the baby. some say 30 weeks and some say 33 weeks .. what you say
Doctor :   thats right we follow based on the AFI range but that is alone not the parameter
Doctor :   A full Biophysical Profile is determined by: -AFI, as described above.
-Fetal Movement
-Fetal Tone
-Fetal Breathing Movements, another sensitive indicator of fetal well-being. The fetus doesn't really "breathe," in the sense that he/she exchanges air, but the chest walls move, going through the motions.
-Fetal Activity Determination (FAD), also referred to as a non-stress test (NST), in which accelerations of fetal heart rate are compared in real-time to fetal movement.
Doctor :   based on these parameters we decide
Doctor :   at this moment you have nothing to worry
Doctor :   you wife is undergoing regular checkups
Doctor :   so there is nothing to worry
User :   the heart beat is 149, foetal weight is 1002 +- 146 gms. Length of cervic 3.6 cm. are thigs normal
Doctor :   yes they are
User :   any specific diet you would recommend
Doctor :   rest and a healthy diet of green leafy vegetables
User :   should we continue with a daily walk
Doctor :   yes
User :   but doctor said complete bed rest
Doctor :   you should not exert
Doctor :   basic walking is fine
User :   we have a function of "baby shower" is it ok for her to attend
Doctor :   yes she can do it but make sure she is properly rested
User :   is there need for her to be hospitalised now.
Doctor :   no there is no need.. simple rest at home is advised
User :   thanks you sir. good night
Doctor :   your welcome
Doctor :   take care and do be regular with the tests
User :   sure. signing off
Doctor :   good bye
