User :   I have an ear infection and have been prescribed to take alphamox 500mg 3 x per day. I wanted a second opinion as this seems like quite a large dosage.

User :   im a bit nervous to take it as i dont know if im allergic to penicillin or not

Doctor :   Alphamox has least hypersensitivity rate amongst penicillin group
User :   do i have to take it with food?
Doctor :   yes,10 min after food
User :   the doctor i saw told me i didnt have to have it with food
Doctor :   no there is no much compulsion , but its better to have it with food as its a antibiotic and has a capsule (made of gelatin )

Doctor :   and do not exceed the drug course more than 5 days
User :   so 3 tablets a day for 5 days?
Doctor :   yes, some may advice for 3 days but maximum recommendation is 5 days

User :   are there any common side effects i should know about?
Doctor :   not serious , loose stools and GI disturbances can be expected
