User :   hello sir
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Good afternoon.
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   good afternoon sir
User :   my wife is 4th month pregnant now
Doctor :   Ok
User :   i have a couple of doubts
User :   during 1st 3 months of pregnancy, she took very less food and she became too lean and week . so what could be the possible impact on baby?
Doctor :   Pregnancy brings in lot of changes in the mother.
Doctor :   The following are the changes that can occur
Doctor :   1. There is need for extra calorie food.
Doctor :   A minimum requirement of 300 to 400 calorie more is needed to take her of her personal as well as the baby needs.
Doctor :   2. It is not uncommon to find few endocrine dysfunctions popping up.
Doctor :   Conditions such as thyroid hormone imbalance, blood pressure and blood sugar changes can start or flare up.
User :   i am little worried as she was not well during 1st 3 months time .
Doctor :   3. Other medical conditions such as anemia can start.
Doctor :   All these are common changes that are expected to happen.
User :   anemia can start for the baby ..?
Doctor :   I mean anemia(low hemoglobin) levels starts in mother.
Doctor :   So it is necessary that a pregnant mother sees a doctor early during the pregnancy, atleast before 1st 3 months.
Doctor :   Most of these changes first effect the mother
Doctor :   and if not treated well, they have an impact on the growing child.
Doctor :   So it is hard to predict which of the causes or rather changes i would say, may have caused the reduction in weight, lean appearance and not eating well.
Doctor :   Is it purely nutritional or one of the these medical causes? is the question that can be answered by her gynecologist alone.
Doctor :   If the cause is purely nutritional, then with supplementing good nutrition from now on will reduce the impact/prevent the impact on the mother.
Doctor :   So my bottom line to your first query is
Doctor :   1. Yes, it could have an impact on the mother, if the condition was to be a severe one.
Doctor :   2. An acute or severe problem can affect the growth and development of the child
Doctor :   this can be confirmed/ruled out by ultrasound scan.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes sir...i understood
User :   i consulted gynacologist , and had the ultrasound scan . can we know all about baby health by scanning ...? is it 100% correct ..?
Doctor :   Regular ultrasound scans monitors the growth of the fetus and is a fair indication of the exact situation inside the mother's womb.
Doctor :   So, if the ultrasound scans were normal, then you need not worry.
User :   can we have ultrasound scan any no of times ..?
Doctor :   Atleast 2 scans are necessary, one done early in pregnancy and one late in the pregnancy.
Doctor :   Ideal number are 3 scans, done in every 3 months.
User :   ok
Doctor :   You can have multiple number of scans too, but that would not be necessary.
Doctor :   Only if the scans are grossly abnormal where frequent monitoring is needed, multiple scans may be necessary.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   yes sir ..i followed
User :   thanks sir...
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   bye
Doctor :   Have a nice day!! and wish you and your partner a successful pregnancy too
Doctor :   Bye for now.
