User :   i just have an query last week i went for bone density check
User :   the BD result was -4.4

User :   doctor says this is result of smoking ?

Doctor :   when was the test done? what symptoms do you have?
User :   iam 31 yrs wt-65 ht 5 feet 9 inch

Doctor :   your values fall into the 'osteoporosis' range. what treatment has been started for you?
Doctor :   smoking can lead to some amount of osteoporosis. but there could be other factors too that could contribute to this
User :   he suggested me forbone capsules , & suggested to reduce smoking have milk & protein food
Doctor :   like age more than 30, hormonal problems and the diet
User :   iam trying my best to reduce smoking , but i think i cant quiet
Doctor :   ok. what he has suggested is good.
Doctor :   it is difficult to quit smoking i agree with you, but it is not impossible to quit
Doctor :   how many cigarettes do you smoke per day at present?
User :   how much time it will take to regain the required bone density ?
User :   earlier i use to smoke more then 10
Doctor :   and since how many years you have been smoking?
User :   but i have reduced to 3-4 per days

Doctor :   the bone density to return back can take some time say about 6 moths to 1 year depending on your efforts
Doctor :   ok. i will suggest you a simple trick to try and quit smoking
Doctor :   reduce 1 cigarette per week or every 15 days
Doctor :   and slowly you will come down to 1 per day
User :   quiting smoking will contribute lot to regain?
Doctor :   when you are at one per day, try to avoid taking that also by diverting your mind or doing something else like engaging in your favorite game or listening to music.
Doctor :   yes it will affect the regain part, so try your best to quit
Doctor :   increase more of dairy products in diet along with taking medicines

Doctor :   like consumption of drumstick leaves (both dry and fresh) in form of vegetables
Doctor :   take yogurt more than using curd
User :   iam taking milk tow times a day
Doctor :   and take two glasses of milk per day preferably with Protienex powder and your calcium and Vit-D supplement
Doctor :   increase protien intake in diet by taking more of beans, rajma, chickpeas, panneer, and non veg ( if you consume ) like mutton, chicken and fish
User :   iam having 7-8 almonds each day will that help
Doctor :   especially shell fish
Doctor :   yes, take about 4-5 almonds, cashews, and walnuts per day

User :   what are after age effects ?
Doctor :   age affects osteoporosis in the sense it increases more.
Doctor :   after age of 40, it becomes 60% more chances
Doctor :   and after age of 50, it becomes 80%
Doctor :   and so on
Doctor :   it is actually more commonly seen in women due to changes in hormones
