Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Since your kid, is more than 6 months old, soft diet in the form of mashed food in small amounts can be given.
Doctor :   However, since your kid was only on milk for the last 6 months, milk has to be slowly withdrawn.
Doctor :   This is referred to as weaning/weaning period.
Doctor :   During the weaning period, though milk is the predominant diet, you have to slowly and gradually reduce the milk and start of with the other dietary products.
Doctor :   Initially start of with food supplements such as cerelac, if he is tolerating it well, then other food which is well mashed can be given.
Doctor :   Slowly also introduce soft vegetables, such as potatoes which are again well mashed.
Doctor :   As the dentition starts other products such as vegetables, soft idlies, rice can be started.
Doctor :   Make sure that you try these in small amounts to check if your baby is tolerating it well before continuing it regularly.
Doctor :   Check his weight regularly, every month or once in every 2-3 months.
Doctor :   You may have to consult your pediatrician, if there is weight loss
Doctor :   or if there is refusal to take food.
