User :   Hi I have perricarditis and have been given anti inflammatories (difene also called diclofenac) I have a months supply of these and i am two weeks through the prescription the last day or so i am experiencing that tightness of chest again and I am putting it down to one of two things, either beginning exercising again which Ive been told can aggrevate my condition but the question I have for you is actually based on what I have also been taking. I started taking berocca a few days ago and just read that it can effect taking other drugs such as anti inflammatories and it specifically mentions diclofenac as one of the drugs it can effect but it doesnt say how so my question is can berocca effect how the diclofenac works in my body?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi doctor
Doctor :   Give me a couple of minutes
User :   sure
Doctor :
I shall go through your query and respond
User :   thanks
Doctor :
So you wanted to know if you can take Berocca along with Diclofenca
User :   Yes as ive read that it is listed as one of the drugs that you should contact your doctor before taking
User :   I am wondering whether it can wash the diclofenac out of your system or inhibit its benefits in some other way?
Doctor :   May I ask you few questions?

User :   sure
Doctor :
What is your age?
User :   29
Doctor :
When were you diagnosed with pericarditis?
User :   about 3 weeks ago
Doctor :   Were you sick before that?

User :   No
Doctor :
How did it all started?
User :   i woke up with tightness in chest and had short breaths so i went to A & E and they did loads of tests for heart issues such as ECGs and angigram and even an ultrsound
User :   everything came back clear so im pretty sure its not a heart issue but
Doctor :
Did the Doctor recommend Berocca to you?
User :   I had a bad chest infection which they said can inflame the lungs and then inflame the heart sack causing the perricaritis
User :   no i just started taking it cos i was feeling a bit run down
Doctor :   Ok, let me give my opinion about Berocca. As far as I know the Berocca is only a vitamin supplement with Vitamin B and C, Is it the same you are talking about
User :   I didnt realize the berocca is not recommended with ther meds
User :   yes
User :   with many other minerals also
Doctor :
They are not absolutely contraindicated if you have pericarditis
Doctor :
They can be taken even now, it can though interfere with the absorption of DICLOFENAC
Doctor :
Hence leave a gap of 2 hours from the dose of Diclofenac
User :   ok so you are saying that it can effect the absorbtion of diclofenac?
Doctor :
Yes
User :   I didnt take it within two hours of taking diclofenac yesterday though
Doctor :
so it better to leave a gap of 2 hou
User :   i took berooca in the afternon
Doctor :   Ok, then you need not worry about
User :   and the diclofenac in the morning and then again in the evening
User :   so it is poossible it can effect the diclofenac even if its more then two hours?
Doctor :
Even the pericarditis ( a suspicion) is not long term
Doctor :
No
Doctor :
It cannot
User :   so is this a reason to be woorried?
Doctor :
No
Doctor :
You do not have to worry
User :   as i took the berooca in the afternoon and then the table in the evening and had the pains alst night before bed?
User :   you still think that its the berocca affecting it?
Doctor :
No
User :   then why do you think im getting these pains now?
Doctor :
What is the time now?
User :   its 11:15
User :   here
Doctor :
AM??
User :   i woke up with tightnesss htis morning
User :   yes
User :   and took diclofenac about two hours ago and im ok now
Doctor :
Do you have a BP monitor and pulse recorder?
User :   slight tightness but not painful
User :   no
User :   i am concerned whether i need to go hosptial again
Doctor :   Pericarditis , a clinical suspicion, takes a minimum of 3 weeks to subside

Doctor :
till then you have these episodes of pain
User :   ok even with the diclofenac?
Doctor :   Diclofenac is not the cure for pericarditis
Doctor :
It gives you a symptomatic relief
User :   ok so you are saying that i need not be worried?
Doctor :
I wish to explain everything about pericarditis
User :   ok
User :   may i ask you a quick question first?
Doctor :   I think I need more time to answer your questions to the best of my abilities.

User :   is it safe to exercise with it?
Doctor :
Yeah you can
Doctor :
No
User :   or can this cause problems?
Doctor :
Exercise is not a good idea with acute pericarditis around
User :   ok so I should avoid all exercise?
Doctor :
Yes
Doctor :
Rest, NSAIDs are the important
User :   ok thats good to know as i started doing weights and abs and thought this might not be helping
Doctor :
Rest is required for next 6 weeks
Doctor :
You can get into mild exercise after 3 weeks
