User :   Hello. I would like your professional advice Dr, its about my father so please check/read through previous chat history so you know the basic information that is needed for you to assest the situation..

User :   Please do, take your time and then ask me if anything is un clear.... Well my father went for a walk with me yesterday which was the first time for the past 2 months and now his knee/foot/leg hurts and is a bit swollen and hot....

User :   Don't know if its becuase of the gout or the meniscal injurt or maybe both???
User :   He is very worried that he can't go outside for a walk and if he has to, he has to do it with crutches.

User :   No, no present injury. Yes, the minute he walks his knee and feet swell , even if its just to and from the bathroom.

User :   If he has had an injury two months ago? Well He weant for a long walk and exherted himself and from that time he had these problems, plus his gout attacks acted up aswell

User :   95% of the time he is sitting or lying down so when he moves/is mobile there is a effect to his knee/feet
Doctor :   He has to restrict too much exertion on the joints, to prevent such instances.
User :   And how shall he do that Dr.?
Doctor :   IS he on any kind of support to his knee joints?

Since he is having renal problems pain killers have to restricted.

Paracetomol however can be tried.

I shall give you the treatment measures for his present problem.
User :   He takes paracetomol and it does diddley for him. When he has pain he takes Oxycotion and Oxyderm 3-4 tablets 5 mg

Pain killers which ever he is on

2) hot water bagging to the affected joints

3) complete joint immobilisation

This has to happen for the next 2 weeks

till the swelling and pain reduces.

Presently since there is swelling he should not bear weight even with knee support.

Once his swelling comes down then he can slightly move about with knee support.
